This is made for a specific target, AKA "rich people with no need for more than knowing what time it is, typing, and calling, but want something with class, that fits their social status (read = expensive)"
The phones with which SE plans to compete in the market aren't of this kind. But they shouldn't neglect a niche "just because", and let Nokia's 8800 series get all the profit (although it's not comparable with the mainstream phone's profit, it is profit nonetheless).

This phone will kick XPERIA Pureness way too easily
Cause X3 only gives ''talk and text'' and this phone gives very decent specs
Perfect time for the announcement of this phone by NOKIA
I hope XPERIA Pureness and 8800 Erdos be launched at the same time so we can see X3 being kicked off.
About the price, well it will definetly be around 1000 Euro or 1200 Dollars.
XPERIA Pureness ain't got any thing except look

joe, 16 Sep 2009SE can do much better than this...Probably, but look at to this new technology, this phone could be a sucsess, rich people would like to buy such phones, to show they are rich, and they have interesting phones too! LG has a transparent keypad phone, that phone is interesting too!:)

nope, 16 Sep 2009at least the luxury Erdos is much2 better (design and technology). anyway, with current SE ... moreif they want to survive high end prices is not the answer,they need to bring out a mid end to high end phone and start selling it at mid prices to sell in bulk so they can survive,not sell about 10,000 of these things and hope to compete in the mobile market

at least the luxury Erdos is much2 better (design and technology).
anyway, with current SE position, better they produce good technology phone to make sure they can survive instead of niche product that will not improve their position

Positioned as an exclusive luxury handset, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pureness won't be distributed via the usual retailers and carriers, but will only be displayed in high-end stores and boutiques with a price to match - running around 600 euro.
Xperia Pureness will be promoted "as a work of art rather than technology" and as revealed now Sony Ericsson will position the phone as an "iconic niche product, not mass market".
Xperia Pureness will be sold in design-museum shops and high-end stores such as Selfridges

It's cool, but doesn't do to much to help Sony Ericsson's position. Their smartphone position, especially, is still weak compared to RIM, Apple or even Nokia and Samsung.

This phone is made for snobs, show offs and chavs who have just inherited alot of money.
Xperia sux, auro sux, 8800 sux, they all suck and everyone who uses them sux! More money than sense.
