Apple does a different thing, they put a fngerprint scanner but not by swiping it...
And it does wrk great!

Fingerprint scanner is shitty, main camera & battery life is awesome. Bezel size does bother me but the chipping off paint really does look ugly. Apart from it the lack of sapphire glass on the protuding camera means there is no way you can save it from scratches.

An American company Qualcomm was biggest supplier of chipsets for Samsung Galaxy S4 & S5.
This is called outsourcing Son. Anyone who is capable of making Apple designed chipsets in that enormous quantity would take the tender & Samsung had the capacity to do it.
