My phone automatically switch to silent when I walk into my office building. You have to switch manually if you use iPhone. I can choose different level of hardware and choose different interface for different type of users, your iPhone can't. And my phone runs faster and crashes less than your iPhone and also cost less.

IPhone has limited specs on very basic software.
What apple does is claim that it's all unique and supremely optimized so that it's way more advanced and premium then others.... When really it's not.
And their software/hardware does not cost as much as most other flagship androids.
Like it's biggest rival. The Galaxy. The RnD and parts cost a lot more and it's capable of doing considerably more.
But apple will charge more for it. Hence all their profit

Have you seen the Android phones the majority of people is buying in India, China, SE Asia? You get two Android phones for $100 in Philippines, did you expect the profits to fill uncle Scroogles money bin from such prices? And when did you last see someone paying for something in Play Store?

No android devi... moreQuality of what? the freaking iphone 6 doesn't even have a metal frame around it to protect. it can easily bend. The Aluminum 6061-T6 alloy in the Meizu device (that cost twice less) is way more stronger than the 6005 alloy used in the new Iphones.
The Aluminum 6061-T6 cost more than the old 6005 alloy and yet you people pay more lol!
You people are stup to believe the "premium" marketing scam from Apple. But hey keep buying those overpriced products.
You know how they say the dumber the better.

If you ask the majority of phone users, they wouldn't know what resolution their phone is, nor would they care.
The everyday users require simple and efficient services that work smoothly.
That's why Apple provide exactly that and no more. Good quality components and an ecosystem that is well thought through complete the customer experience.
And as someone else mentioned before, Apple's own OS and services cost money to maintain and develop... so, it's not all about the hardware.

Reading other comments here im amazed how much some support Android, after having lots of Android flagships since 2010 i gone away from android, it doesnt grow on you, it just adds ads and get more and more annoying and ugly and bloated. Im currently on BB 10 OS but i think i pick up an iPhone 5s 32GB now since BB10 has some disturbing bloat as well, like BBM that is impossible to disable/uninstall/logout. I dont support all the iOS limitations, esp the BT file transfer, and i hate iTunes a lot but theres no options, i have to go for the lesser evil.

Well, iOS is a monopoly controlled by apple. Meanwhile, android is a really competitive market. Apple can price its products much higher and get profits.
Android is a fine alternative to iOS (each with its advantages and disadvantages), but some people are too conservative to change, some are more concerned about brand image than the smartphone per se, and others simply dont care about the money difference.

Apple takes $150 to build a low/mid range phone... moreYou can't have everything. Xiaomi will not survive on this strategy and prices will inevitably go up in the long term unless their software business makes up for the tiny margins in their hardware business.
Profit is the number one driver for companies and their stakeholders, and when you sell $4.3Bil and only make net $56mil, you are bound to fail.
So, for the sake of people like you, I hope they stay in business and their strategy works out.

LOL, no profit in making android phones and no profit in Play Store. Android users dont pay for anything, and hey why should they, its frustrating enough to have that bloated OS and choppy experience if they shouldnt have to pay their apps and entertainment also? Bittorrent ftw, isnt that what you Droids say?
Im happy to see that crime does not pay, quite literally ahaha.
On a more serious note, this shows that theres no room for all these Android manufacturers, Sony really has to let go, HTC may make it, LG is on an upwards trend now but will it last? LG and HTC can both make it if Samsung continues the decline and thus make space for others. Anyway, Chinese Androids will not go anywhere anytime soon, they will do just fine even though profitability is small.

Wrong!
not because "optimization that goes into it" its becaue of limited simple OS and a low res screen as the iphone 6 can run anything smoothly. iOS is extremely limited in customization, limited app management, no split-screen multitasking. and no real multitasking what so ever. And you have no control over it. Plus the battery life is rubbish.

Apple uses not-so-high-end-sounding hardware to make a phone that can run anything smoothly. The reason why idevices are more expensive is because of the optimization that goes into it. It's very difficult to optimize something to such a high end, think about it, the budget you said that goes into making an iphone, can anyone build you another device which is as fast, powerful and optimized as the iphone?

There is a huge difference in quality of Apple devices, No body can deny that. No android device except htc m8 can be compared to the iphones, But for quality you pay more right.? Would you get a htc m8 for 150$? No right.? Yeah you can consider other premium devices with price tag nearly that of iphones. My opinion not fan of either.

All manufacturers think everyone has the mentality of an Apple fan-boy, they keep making this same misstake, underestimating us. Well, that's the result. They fail because they want to be like Apple instead of being an Apple-alternative
