This will be one of those high end multimedia phones that will never be able to perform truly. It's useless to buy a phone because of it's camera. Digicams are there for pics. This will only help you when you dont have your camera (in emergencies), but I think spending 600+euros for a mobile phone is just a foolish waste of money.

A camera phone can never click pics or videos like an SLR or a handycam. It's good that technology is evolving but a high end camera in a phone will disappoint you when you need it most....anyway thats just my view......

I think almost people don't carry digital or SLR camera most of the times, that is why a mobile phone with (relatively) high-end camera makes sense.

Hmm 12mp n 3x optical zoom , i think this mobile OK for decent photography though it cannot match my 10mp SLR . Megapixel race should end here cause it will no longer be able catch up with CCD sensor . Infact manufactures should aim at making better CMOS sensor at the cost of same pixels

And by the way "bulky" and "heavy" are two words mostly associated with Nokia not samsumg. They had G810 with optical zoom years back and it was lighter and slimmer than the newly announced nokia N900. N86 is a good camera phone. But you should keep it in mind that at this moment Pixon12 is the king. So adding optical zoom to that makes perfect scene.

why not show the front side of the phone? it looks really a digicam rather than a phone,and it seems absolutely fake,they should also show the front side of the phone,rather than showing us the digicam side.It looks sweet at all but where's the proof?

For me 8megapixel is enough so i dont interested in its high resolution but the addition of a 3x zoom is very much useful. I have a 5mp digital camera from a uncommon brand inferior than Canon or Sony but still produce better image than 8mp Nokia N86. I think Samsung Nokia & Sony should stop there megapixel race & try to improve their cameraphone quality by adding more optical zoom, digital image processor, good lens etc.
