It's so lame to see post about complaining of Sony not updating their non Z series then bragging on switching to an iphone or samsung.. Question? Can you afford one? Lol!

Motorola are not as good with updates at all as people tend to think, and sometimes they'd have been better off not giving an update at all (e.g. 2014 moto g 5.0 update).
You also mention LG...do you realize that only the g3 has received the update? the previous flagship which is the g2 is still not even given a timeframe for receiving android 5.0 .
Heck even the nexus line didn't get the 5.0 pretty quickly either. I have a nexus 4 and I received android L a month after it was released.
Long story short, android manufacturers are all terrible with releasing updates, and most of the time you only have a shot of being supported if you've bought a flasghip. The only other solution would be to root but its only for people who are knowledgeable enough to do it.
Lollipop relese dat

...so seems there is no problem for sp users, they will get lollipop through other chanells, by root
But that doesnt mean it wont lower SPs user experience and bring on tons of bugs along...
But great for the willing!
That is the wonder of open OS android after all ;-)
then that's why sony is falling. the update's policy is always the same over years and most people move from sony to other brand that regularly updates smartphones, like example Nexus, Motorola and LG.

here high end z series officially. Cheaper mobiles can be replaced year after year but costlier devices like the z series are difficult to upgrade as the specs should last for 2-3 yrs.
I am happy that I would get lollipop for xperia ZR. Hail Sony.
Disappointed with SONY bcuz no update for M2.Im not Sony fan anymore.Changing to iphone, htc, oppo, vivo much better.Wasting my money to buy sony.

Replace Xperia SP with many other Sony model names (of inferior ranges even, Xperia M for instance) and the point remains.

How on earth do you find my comments trolling, when ... moreYou do realize that Alin Jerpelea is on a Sony payroll and that he basically is rolling out Lollipop for Xperia SP under the form of CM12 right? (Yes, that is exactly what he is being paid for!)
The only wonder here is to why exactly doesn't Sony acknowledge this as a flavor official ROMs instead of their current "game" of denial ad-infinitum.
You know, like denying the device is capable of running that version of Android when it is already running it by the hands of someone who was paid (by Sony) to do just that.
That is a shame, I have both the z2 tablet and M2 it's my first time with a sony midranger. I am quite pleased with it,it is good but I was hoping for lollipop for it too.
Sony had a good reputation with midrangers, I do understand that a flagship must have a better and longer support, after all it is far more expensive but sony could and should deliver lollipop for their midrangers.
It would be very good for their reputation.

heman, 07 Mar 2015Too bad, so sad!Its very sad indeed when people are spending a lot of money hoping to get future updates and in the end just being ignored.for many rooting is simply not an option.

Hey, if you want to go trolling (punt intended!) through Sony's support forum about 4 months back, good luck pal. It was also a piece of news on XDA several months back, if that helps.
Also, I'm still waiting for Lollipop for my Z1, could be a long wait, seems to be at the end of the Z series Lollipop update schedule.
And here I am enjoying stable lollypop on my xperia U since last month. Those who want the latest version can root and do so.Its very simple and with minimal risk.Kept the device alive when Sony abandoned it.Thanks to xda.
