        waterproof internal coating is not a new thing. Motorola did it so many years before apple, just like fingerprint scanner on phones...

            I've currently got an iPhone 6 and a Sony Z1compact.....the latter being waterproof however, the sound quality / speaker isn't all that great! Not sure if this has to do with the waterproofing but hope Apple doesn't jeopardise the sound once made waterproof!
