Also Z series is definitely not "rugged"

The difference is that Samsung is doing both a slim version and a slightly more rugged version.

This is why they have to develop the "Active" variant with the bumped-up body frame.

What Samsung could have done with the S6: Give consumers more choice and expand their own market size..
1. Launch the Galaxy S6 in 2 variants, one with the GG4 on both sides with no removable battery, and no card slot.. and one variant with aluminium frame, but no glass at the back, use maybe what they do on the Note 4, pack in a removable monster battery, with a card slot! Consumers looking for looks could buy the former, and those who cant do without removable battery, SD card, and willing to compromise on looks, would have bought the latter..
2. Instead of launching the S6 edge along with the S6.. wait for LG G4 and the others to launch.. then once the S6 is done dominating the market, drop the S6 edge as a surprise..that would have enabled them to further strengthen their market share..
A lost opportunity.. but let's hope they launch an S6 with removable battery and a card slot, at some time this year..

The back cover will obviously be removable, so the battery should be too, and there should be an sd slot. If the battery is really 3500 with the same specifications as S6, this will be the perfect phone

Hope this turns out to be true. In fact I'd recommend this alone as a factor that makes this Active as the best S6 ugly or not.

And if some of them do, they have no business of using an "active" phone in the 1st place.
