Says the CEO of a company with the word "Carphone" in their name. Maybe I'm interpreting it incorrectly but car phones were so 1980. (Yes I know they don't actually sell or service car phones but it's just what comes to mind when I hear the word carphone)

Not a good comparison, because the standard watch only has a few functions with time being the main draw.
A smartwatch talks to your smartphone, making communications easier(keeps phone in pocket), tells time and whatever else can be done via Apps.
Having said that, I think smartwatches will remain niche until battery life is significantly improved to at least 1 week of constant use.

But this iWatch is a great way for Apple to monetize their fans crazy fanaticism. Haha..
