This offer was made because of the SD810 heat problem ;). Samsung know this from the start because they also can make good SoC. Other just got trapped by Qualcom.

About heat, its recommended that hot drinks are max 51 degrees celsius and hot tap water 49C. 55C is enough to cause 3rd degree burn in 20 seconds. This is very serious stuff, dangerous heat, and not really anything to joke about. Theres no choice, iphone 6 is THE phone still, better battery and much cooler and has very high performance.
