Their Trilumonous was great and only got a lot better. It was just starting out and from what I perceived is that they just couldn't start with the higher grade. And it was also much better than given credit for. Even in sunlight. Just not the viewing angles.
Anonymous, 02 Apr 2015SONY Z4 will blow every single phone out of the water believe me I am saying this from SONY... moreNope.
3 GB RAM terrible, 02 Apr 2015If it has only 3 gigs of RAM I'm switching to HTC.Because HTC's only 3GB of ram, weaker display, also repeated design with larger bezels, drop in update support to the M7, slightly behind speakers, plain ui, weaker camera, and no water resistance wins how?
ArchDragoon, 02 Apr 2015I don't need QHD on 5.2" screen size. Currently what SONY should focus on is Audio... moreAnd OIS with lower F stop.
AnonD-111968, 02 Apr 2015What in the world this OEM's are thinking, QHD? What for, even Apple is not using QHD and yet ... moreOh yeah....Apple....Who just released 740p in the iphone 6 for the first time in the history of their devices after phones have already reached QHD.....What an example.
And sorry....There is way more to it than QHD. The chips and modems have a lot to due with it too.
The Note 4 and S5 QHD version both show your ideas to be false.
Anonymous, 02 Apr 2015QHD is brutal overkill in smartphones. Normal human being doesn't need QHD!!!Normal human being doesn't need 5+ inch screen, 1080p or even technically 720p. They don't need stereo speakers on a phone, or a 10+/20+MP camera on it for sure either.
Why even carry around a smart phone? Bring Tv, desktop computer, camera, house phone, power bank, and so on every where you go.
Anonymous, 02 Apr 2015So G4 will be the best smartphone of MWC again?G4 was not released last year or any other yet...Cause it's not released yet.
And if you are referring to the G3....If and G4 following....Whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep comfortably. Never was and probably never will be objectively.
AnonD-213026, 02 Apr 2015QHD doesn't have to compromise battery life. samsung has proven that with the note 4. whereas ... moreThere is a difference between the power consumption of QHD LCD and QHD Amoled. Especially they newer versions which is also yes partly from Samsung's work into efficiency gains.
Cant' wait to see this SONY Z4 Beast in Action!!!
Anonymous, 02 Apr 2015I totally Disagree with what you've said. It depends on how you perceive things and I don't th... moreSay what you want, but Sony will never break into the US market if all they do is provide a phone with all the same features as what's already here. By following the trends, which is what I'm hearing you suggest, that's exactly what'll happen.
These major flagships (especially 2013 and 2014) are all virtually the same. Samsung has been successful in large part due to copying Apple's design language and stuffing as many gimmicks into their phones as they can get to fit. In other words, by trying to be different from their competitors. Let's face it, Apple is a different platform, not a direct competitor.
It's no wonder why people consider which flagship Android phone to buy to be a toss-up. In recent years, they all sport the same internals so it ends up coming down to your preference in color or which is more aesthetically pleasing. That does nothing to push progress in the market or in the technology. When all the phones are the same, it's the manufacturers who decide what we get. When there are real differences in the phones available on the market, it's the consumer that decides where the market goes and where manufactures will spend their R&D $$ in the future.
Perhaps you'd like to explain why the mid-range market is exploding? It's because people are starting to realize that they don't need the latest and greatest gimmicks in their phones. (See Samsung's decline in market share this last year).
I didn't mean that the other features are completely useless. I meant that they're simply being incorporated to keep up with the other major players, and doing so has caused the market to become saturated with virtually identical smartphones. If Sony wants to break into the US market, they will have to offer something others don't, like exceptional battery life. Of course it's not the only thing people want, but you're crazy if you think it's less important than having the latest/greatest features which only serve to reduce battery life and in the case of the high pixel density phones, doesn't actually improve the user experience.
Power users, or self-proclaimed power users will buy that up just for bragging rights. But they won't be able to do much bragging because in order to show off their phones, they'll have to get people to come stand by the wall, near the outlet, because their phone is charging. The average user, as they've already started to do, will look to the mid-range market as providing a full-featured Android smartphone which performs reasonably well and has twice the battery life.
I want to see Sony succeed. But I don't think they'll see any success in the US market (due to lack of carrier interest) if all they offer is the same smartphone as the other major players, just wrapped up in a slightly different casing.
1080p? Z1,Z2, Z3, Z4 all same spec, same look. what is the purpose of making it?
Same camera and ram boring .i love my z1.wating for z5
Anonymous, 02 Apr 2015Follow the trend? The current trend is to provide features that aren't necessary, which in tu... moreI totally Disagree with what you've said. It depends on how you perceive things and I don't think that new smartphones have unnecessary features. It depends on what you think you need and what features make your life easy and convenient. So you can't confidently say that new features are useless. In the case of Sony's flagship, I don't think they will let the battery to have a less superior endurance rating. They have a good spot in the dept already. And believe me or not, it's NOT just the Battery that matters. It doesn't mean that it's your top priority, it's also the top priority of the OTHER Users. It's just like nobody cares about your spare. Well, you should've conducted a global survey first, then do the stat and report.
I don't need to run a business just for me to stick to what I believe. Go With the TREND. Wether you like it or not, Wether you want to stay in the cave or go out, that's how you'll survive. We speak of electronics and technology and there is no other way to progress but to improve and to make an advancement. Again, electronics, so it may not apply to other industries. Again... To reiterate it's not just the battery life that carriers consider. Understand?
Buddy, I was one of those who were defending that Xperia S' dual core processor is enough. The time when HTC and Sam released their flagship phones with quad-core processor. Admit it, it's one of its criticisms as a flagship phone. I said, dual core is enough. But now, we even have octa cores. And Sony is among those who implement quad core and surely an octa core in the future. Another one is when Z/Z1 still decline to use an IPS panel, AGAIN, I was one of those who defended saying that it isn't needed, that their current LCDs are good enough, that I don't tilt my phone whenever I read or response to messages. Admit it, it's one of their major criticisms. Going for an IPS panel became one of their ways to attract buyers.
Big players have to make an upgrade, because that's the TREND, that's what most people want and not just by One or two, that's how you'll sell. Whether you treat is as something useless or not, that's the reality, giving what buyers want. Hope you also keep track of the recent history of Sony in mobile division, their losses and profits in the past months or years. And btw, I may not run a business, but I...

Sony top dog, 02 Apr 2015Sony, you have some of the most incredible phones on the market, truly surpasses everyone else... moreSONY Z4 will blow every single phone out of the water
believe me I am saying this from SONY inside
Sony, you have some of the most incredible phones on the market, truly surpasses everyone else.
All you need is to be more available to the carriers.
In the US, be on Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and all the other smaller carriers rather than just T-Mobile.
Be on US Cellular, Virgin, etc.
In Canada, be more on Telus, Virgin, Koodo. You got the T3 on Virgin which is great, but it needs all of your phones, mainly the M4 Aqua, Z4 and T series.
Do that and you'll have exponential sales that you currently have.
sony is awesome really, i am using z3 its very fast & good response.. no one can beat sony i use all htc, lg, samsung but i like sony z3. i am waiting for z4.
If it has only 3 gigs of RAM I'm switching to HTC.
