The current trend is to provide features that aren't necessary, which in turn expands upon the biggest gripe among ALL smartphone users, which is battery life. I'm sporting a Samsung GS3 still. Why? Because I have a spare battery and I dropped a bunch of money on accessories for it. No phone that's come out since has been better by enough of a margin to warrant an upgrade. If Sony can make for a decent Android experience with battery life that nobody else can touch, they'd be on the road to recovery.
I'm guessing you've never run a business? Staying with the current trend and blending in with all the other smartphone manufacturers is exactly how Sony would remain one of the herd...that formula is one that has failed to help Sony break into the US market with any success thus far.
The carriers aren't stupid and they know the customers want better battery life more than any other feature. Possibly more than any other set of features. If Sony can deliver on that, they'll be in great shape.
Now, if only we could get Sony to spend some money advertising in the US...

When z4 is released, android m will be available in few months. then z4 will give android m in next year, forget about other series getting m(may include xperia z as well). Its their old habit.

Nickolai, 02 Apr 2015The lack of news about the Compact version is disturbing :(I like that. One compact flagship per year is enough, it should be launched about the same time as the next iPhone. Could be a Z4 or Z5 variant.

They need a flagship that is not slippery like the Z3. Samsung made a horrible move with the S6 by copying the Z3 with a slippery glass back too. Sony need a new Xperia Arc with ergonomic shape and grippy materials.

Youre right, theres not enough of you to save Sony Mobile, thats why its time to realize that they have to change direction or fold, their fans cannot save them by buying the same phone over and over again. Sony need something with a broader market appeal to survive but if Z4 is yet another Z2 variation it will be too late.

Maybe yes, they sell well but perhaps not good enough for them to achieve their target profit. And that is beacause of many reasons like what you said: less tie-up with mobile carriers in the US and, also including all the the things in my comments I mentioned below. Bottomline is, they need much more surprises to attract buyers. If in case they release a QHD version + the waterproof capability, then it'll be a serious competitor. That may help them to gain some spot on top.

No Fan Boy...!, 02 Apr 2015Snapdragon 810 = Fail...!I think that SD 815 (which doesn't exist), is a more efficient SD 810. They have probably renamed the 815 to 810 so that it looks like they have solved the issues. And that explains all leaks for the "not existing" 815.
