The black bar is for the screen drivers. If you look, every phone has a section under of over the screen for these drivers. The only problem though, is the huge sleeker enclosures, which literally fill the grill space. The space problem though would be solved by moving to off-screen optional buttons like the one+one. And if you look at the m7, the grills are still irregular, just the top feels more balanced. And again. As a One max owner, the backside fingerprint skaner is the best. Keep your hand on the back, push the button, swipe the finger. A lot less on-screen tapping,repositioning, and swiping nonsence that eventualy results in drops. In my oppinion, the max is the best one they've built. Camera isn't too figity, the layout is perfect, and the battery lasts forever... without the fancy 800-series chipset baterysaver.

I own one as well, and they only thing they could have done is maybe improved the reading software. But if you set it up properly, it works just fine.

By relocating logo to the rear. The front will be far more elegant and free up needed space so the overall size need not be so huge all the time.

I've just returned a HTC one m9 after two days of use, the performance of handset itself is great, super smooth, fast and responsive. The reason I sent it back is the design, I just can't live with it. The build quality is excellent and the materials top class but it's too big and heavy for a five inch 1080p phone. It actually feels dated and less refined than I was expecting and the M9+ looks worse. Just using top quality materials doesn't equat to top quality design, it felt over engineered and unrefined. I was hoping for something more akin to the M7 but the M9 models are just too vulgar for me, such a shame HTC!

Hey guys, can u see that the on-screen buttons are missing?- Usually they were right there below the shortcuts now they are not there, maybe it's a fake leak or maybe HTC is finally going to take advantage of the black bar again, makes u wonder.

The figerprint scanner was perfect at the back of the phone.I have a htc one max with the fingerprint scanner at the back and it work perfectly.With the scanner at the back you can use one hand to unlock the phone,left or right hand.Remember that when you are holding the phone your fingers is always at the back so you could just reach for the scanner.Now with the scanner at the front and at that position on the phone you have to use two hands to operate it.The sensor at the front also change the face of the phone affecting the look that the two boom sound speakers give to the M9+.

I don't get why they can't just place the fingerprint scanner on the right side of the phone, even though it would be a swipe scanner at least they won't have to sacrifice their speaker design (+ easy to reach).
