nokia should rock again in handset manufacturing.
all the best for nokia.
whats wrong with everyone, this nokia acquisition on ALU is only about ALU's telecom network business not about phone manufacturing business. Phone is branded Alcatel, not alcatel lucent - which is the telecom network equipment arm. sad to see everyone wasting their time and energy in writing about phone business.
Whatever, they're not working together on handsets they say, they're not going to be complete till 2016 they say. when in 2016 the microsoft contract is up, and NOKIA can start the handset busines on fire with a new android phone. 5,4,3,2,1,.....The King is back!!Happy new year from NOKIA.
Great
So it is going to be Ericsson vs Nokia vs Huawei vs Cisco vs ZTE in the telecommunications market.
bravo bravo *clap clap clap* I really enjoy reading your comments my comrades...keep it up...thank you
snoopy, 15 Apr 2015It does appear that this acquisition is for networks only. But it would be premature to assume... moreThere is no need for Nokia to return to the handset business.
New Nokia Corporation will make money as long as TCL makes and sells Alcatel branded smartphones.
Why would they compete with a company that is using one of their brands?
snoopy, 15 Apr 2015It does appear that this acquisition is for networks only. But it would be premature to assume... moreAlcatel Lucent sold its shares of the mobile division to TCL a few years ago therefore they dont make any phones on the other hand Alcatel Lucent owns Bell Laboratories and they have a huge number of patents regarding communication technology.
ash, 15 Apr 2015does anybody realise that this is not for making phones but for cellular and networking infras... moreI bet you 99% of the people only read the headline but not the article!
ash, 15 Apr 2015does anybody realise that this is not for making phones but for cellular and networking infras... moreIt does appear that this acquisition is for networks only. But it would be premature to assume that it would not blossom to mobile phones also. For alcatel to ignore Nokias mobile phone prowess is difficult to acknowledge. Nokia I'm sure won't be able to stay away from making phones. It is like expecting the buffalo won't plunge into an inviting river. Even if ms felt ambushed !!
Microsoft strongly eaten Nokia n help for Stephen Elop. Monster elop eaten lots of money during Capture of Nokia by Microsoft
ash, 15 Apr 2015does anybody realise that this is not for making phones but for cellular and networking infras... moreExactly.
Good to see giants are coming together!
This will give humongous competition to Ericsson on Cellular Network as well as Managed Service piece globally.
droid4every1, 15 Apr 2015I don't think Nokia is gonna make phones after this acquisition. The business will be based on... moreMotorola sold its network infrastructure business to Nokia some time ago.
Once there was a time not everyone could make mobile devices, and Nokia was the king then, but things have changed, today Samsung and Apple may be kings, but everyone else also can make mobile devices, that's not a big deal anymore, and Nokia is moving toward another direction, well, this "internet of things" seems sth which will really invade the future, so imo Nokia is in the right way, do not be surprised when you see after a few years that your house and office will be full of appliances, devices or services reading "Nokia" and you have Nokia subscriptions and services everywhere around ;)
Surely this deal will result in massive layoffs. And even then they will not be competitive with Huawei. I admit I was sceptic to Huawei but now with the new Huawei cell network where I live and my iphone battery dropping Zero percent at overnight 3G standby I think I am ready to say they are competitive with Ericsson, not sure I can say that about NokiaAlcatel.
does anybody realise that this is not for making phones but for cellular and networking infrastructure.
I don't think Nokia is gonna make phones after this acquisition. The business will be based on Cellular network services like what Motorola, Ericsson does.
Finally a good news from Nokia, they have changed priorities, but definitely strong. For sure it will come a day they will be in mobile devices again.
Anonymous, 15 Apr 2015Is the nokia enough strong to make a new phone with new system like apple made own ios ?No, they sold their mobile phone division to microsoft
