Oh nooooo wher is the QHD i want a ton of pixels that i dont need in order to drain my battery so quickly. 440 ppi is more than enough to have a nice screen people.i experienced this with a two phones QHD vs FHD i wished that i didint buy the new one. Keep it up sony & HTC
Sony: Fix the market at the home country before going back internationally. Ironically, even at their home country people buy either an iPhone or a Samsung. Even their countrymen know what they could be buying better.
No QHD? Same 5.2" display? Stil 20-megapixel? And they call it a Z5?
...yawn!!!
...waste#%!@*%
do you really need 4k ? for me 1080P is enough and better battery life i can use 2days+ on my xperia z2
but why still 3GB ram ? z2-z3 even z4 still 3GB
why not larger battery ?we noe tat sony battery life is great
Biggest change for me is ''NAKED usb''
no need flaps still waterproof (magnectic charging is annoying and took upto 4hours till full charge)
Tom-Helge, 20 Apr 2015Using the PPI as an excuse for when you are not seeing the pixels isn't the same as going over... moreHmm maybe my eyes don't have microscopic ability like most people. To me, if I can't see the pixels (or blurring) with my naked eyes, it's as sharp and as clear as it can get. But if more ppi can come at the same cost (and performance), why not.
Given the very low key, Japan only, launch of the Z4 I would not be supprised if Sony has decided to scrap the Z series altogether. This means that either they have decided to pull out of manufacturing smartphones altogether or they considered the change to their new flagship design so radical that it justified a brand new name series altogether.
I think though if it does not announce a new phone in Septenmber then sadly it will look increasing likely Sony has decided to do the former. Samsung will no doubt react with glee but in the longer term do the majority of users want the Western phone market to have just two main players. I dont think so. Monopolies usually consider profit ahead of inovation and consumer choice in the long term.
I think there is room still for a little bit of optimism (not much) though that this may hopefully not be the case.
Sony did not bother showcasing this phone at a recognised launch event as it had in the past, thus its almost acknowledged that the Z4 didn't really justify that sort of treatment.
It also hasn't confirmed if the Z4 will even be released outside Japan.
Sony in fact seems to have gone out of its way to release this phone as quietly as possible with no fanfare whatsoever. Sony's marketing of the Z series has been poor but you would have to think by releasing it on a Japanese language only website surely this was a deliberate strategy by Sony for the Z4.
Sony does not appear to have included their new sensor, the MX230 designed specifically for 20 mp cameras in the Z4.
So unless the new sensor has been adopted by Apple for the I6s (which would be bad news for Samsung) or by Samsung in the Note 5 (unlikely given it will probably stick wih its own processor) who is Sony manfacturing its new sensor for, given that the new sensor went into mass production in April.
Plus all the leaks seemed to point to Sony designing a completely new phone which would be tied in to the release of the new Bond film due to premiere in October which would also fit a September announcement.
So perhaps its a little too early to write Sony mobile off just yet but the clock is ticking!
If it aint broke, then don't fix it. Most people buy things they do not need because they claim it is in vogue. Many of us hardly use the gadgets we buy to its fullest. QHD is nice to have but not a necessity in a 5.2" display. When you get a 20.7MP camera on a phone that is less than 7mm thick that is just about the limit you get. Few phones are there that get magapixel rave above the 20MP magic number without getting unduly big and heavy. I will go for a dedicated DSLR camera or even a compact camera for that purpose. Give or take, an LED flash is no alternative for a xenon flash. There are hosts of good cameras out there that are cheaper than than these high end camera phones if good pictures are your take. I have an excellent Sony Xperia Z3 Dual that meets my needs. Before this I had the aged Sony Xperia C that I have used to take pictures that gives people the wow factor. I have used several Sony products but I think one of my best camera phone happened to be the Sony Ericsson K750. The only phone that I have used that come close to that happened to be anothe xenon flash totting Nokia N8. If you want a casual set of photograph for email sharing, you really don't need a 20.7MP camera phone because you will eventually have to down size it before sharing it. I am uch more inclined to the quality of the picture (still and moving) and audio. So folks research properly before you buy or you may just shell out your hard earned dollars based solely on a rave review and end up with a gadget you under-utilize.
One hundred and more years sony have qhd and become firs company
tuzle, 20 Apr 2015I hope ppl are disappointed for any other reason besides the lack of qHD retardness.
Because ... moreWhy on eather would they do qHD??? What is this a midrange or entry level phone??
I agree FHD is great, even QHD would be ok, but never ever qHD on
SOmething new on Z4?
all i can see is the same old flagship which is Z3
Typical Sony...never doing a good job of mass releasing their top flagship to multiple markets world wide. They make some nice hardware but fail to give consumers the chance to buy it with these limit release and taking FOREVER to get to other markets. Then u wonder why they are struggling. They should revamp their marketing team and also learn to price their devices rightly. The time of these over priced flagships is almost over...the Chinese OEMs are coming out with well specced cheaper devices. Get with the program else u will go under.
tuzle, 20 Apr 2015I hope ppl are disappointed for any other reason besides the lack of qHD retardness. Because ... moreYup. actually I was disappointed on the design. It looks like.. Z1.. oh wait Z2!.. nah I think its Z3!..
Anonymous, 20 Apr 2015why it is not QHD? and why not 4GB ram?... disappointing Because there is no need for it to qHD and 3GB is plenty enough already...
I hope ppl are disappointed for any other reason besides the lack of qHD retardness.
Because yeh.. qHD is retarded in a phone (or even tablet imho), 1080p its already too much in a phone tbh.
I dont really see whats wrong with this phone specs except the old ugly design i mean.
Z5 will be the same thing, probably upgrade the camera to 22MP, which is still horrible in terms of picture quality.
why it is not QHD? and why not 4GB ram?... disappointing
What happened to Sony, before they made the Xperia Z phone, most of their phones were different from each other.
Now they are all similar to each other.
What happening to them, and for God Sake let them Change the camera from 20 MP to something much better.
it's still more of the same and the same again... no more rooms for improvement? tsk tsk tsk
This phone only for Japan Market.
No Compact Version.
No International Release Date.
Sony make something unpredictable strategy.
Sony looks like want to bring the older Xperia Z series to better position.
Xperia Z3 looks more Valuable than Galaxy S6.
Xperia Z3 Compact looks more Valuable than Iphone 6 & Galaxy Alpha.
Xperia Z1 Compact looks more Valuable than Galaxy S5 mini & Galaxy A5.
and some more...
Interesting.
