Like Nokia hasn't already started to do this with Foxconn. This is hardly news. It will be news when they take complete ownership of hardware and software design under their own R&D.

i am pretty sure they will return wid their own skinned android because they are not in the position of taking any risks.....the most they can do is make the same device wid different OS....like HTC ONE M8... and i personally think that its d best way to come back and set themself apart from today's overly crowded smartphone industry.....
i am expecting their comeback wid 2-3 devices.....
      4.7 inch mid range
      5.2 inch flagship
      and 5.5 inch prepium phablet
with lumia 920 type build quality and ALLUMINIUM BATTERIES......

AnonD-8226, 21 Apr 2015If I'm correct which I guess I am Symbian never had a bad rep It was the king of OSes at it... moreyes u r correct upto some extension. but symbian was becoming good enough to compete with android and ios only after the new versions like anna, belle.. nokia took bad decisions. If I'm not wrong "The burning platform" statement made symbian to gain bad reputation.. and you know the person who who is directly responsible for that.

i think nokia should call for conference of symbian developers to port all the famous android apps to symbian. and once again we could see that mighty software platform back with lots of talk time and standby time in one recharge and with a tiny batteries and weight just below 120gms

a symbian phone with nokia n8 camera 4.7" hd screen and 1.5ghz processor 1gb ram 32 gb storage 4g lte and corning gorilla glass protection will rock and the battery should be atleast 2000mah and lumia 730 like body and rich voice recording. and the ability to run all android apps should be plus (if possible). and a front facing 1.3mp camera for video call.
we are waiting nokia lets rock

Nokia fan here!Been using them since 1999 for more than a decade.Still think this is bad idea... actually the worst one.
We have to remember that downhill of Nokia went when they started outsourcing the manufacturing to China and alike. Its nothing to do with Elop and MS like most youngsters around here thinks. It was "declining" of quality of their phones over time.I personally feel it,most other people do.... they've become "Nochina".

So this is actually milking of(for what was left)profits of a well known and loved name.Just don't do that please!Let it rest in peace.

Anonymous, 21 Apr 2015I don't know What OS Nokia would choose to start a new era of smartphones.. But I'm damn sure... moreIf I'm correct which I guess I am
Symbian never had a bad rep
It was the king of OSes at it's time
When android and ios started to catch-up nokia just didn't develop it further and it remained under-developed

I myself owned many nokia smartphones
And i loved the way symbian was(this was obviously before i got android)

But the point is they might be secretly developing the symbian OS without anyone knowing and may use their home-made platform only to come back

                          I mean I'll buy it
If it's well developed and coming from nokia
Still a nokia fanboy and proud to admit that

Hail Nokia, Glad to see in action the shit microsoft is ruining ur heritage with each&every product , what the hell the're doing; if they want make phones on their own brand name they must setup a seperate entity but not buying the iconic Nokia lumia brand

Nokia may use more than one operating system like sailfish, cyanogen, ubuntu etc. i would prefer sailfish their native os.
