AnonD-376366, 29 Apr 2015These photos are not original photos directly from the camera as they are from Adobe Lightroom... moreI do hope that image processing is lightroom rather than the device itself. Not sure what you were looking at, but it definitely looks cartoony to me. I have been struggling with the image optimization on the Asus Zenfone 2...I assumed the LG G4 would be light years better...at the moment I can't make that judgment.
AnonD-376366, 29 Apr 2015These photos are not original photos directly from the camera as they are from Adobe Lightroom... moreFunny you need to explain it. But it doesn't change the fact. Its a below average.
These photos are not original photos directly from the camera as they are from Adobe Lightroom. So I assume they took the photos in DNG RAW and exported it out to JPG. At least "some" of the EXIF data remains intact although not all. (some photos doesn't have ISO info etc)
I'm VERY happy that it supports DNG RAW out of the box and keeps a lot more detail (albeit a little grainy) than most other common phones by doing so. Better to be grainy with detail than smoothed out with less detail IMHO.
The extra noise/grain seems fine. They can be smoothed out via Lightroom as needed but yeah, who looks at 100% crop photos all the time anyways. At least it keeps more of the details intact instead of it being overly noise reduced & sharpened.
Example 1. Look at the night street shot which has the most detail of the samples. The writings in the signs etc all doesn't show any ugly sharpness halos. It does look a little cartoony but I assume that's due to them applying a bit more noise reduction via Lightroom. Overall, it looks very good to my eyes.
Example 2. Look at the tree on the canyon. The central parts of the tree has tons of detail although you can still see plenty of chroma noise even at ISO 100 in the blue/purple backdrop. But even so, it looks natural and not over-processed (noise reduction, sharpening). So this is also very nice to my eyes. It could benefit with a tiny bit more noise reduction.
Overall, the photos are excellent thanks to RAW. But yeah, I wonder how the photos will look in in-camera JPG. I'm sure it won't be as good that's for sure.
Does anyone know who makes the sensor?
DantE O2, 28 Apr 2015so you haven't look at the real size photos, the colors are awesome right but much noise is t... moreThat's what I noticed. Too much noise.
FreezeGame, 29 Apr 2015Absolutely horrendous photos. They're so washed out and full of noise that it's embarrassing. ... morewhy are you so frightened ? XD
Very nice camera. It is true that noise is there, but in this way detail is preserved, and the photo has a natural unprocessed look (unlike the S6 "processed paint look"). Photographers will apreciate the photo quality of these samples. You can remove noise but you cant recover lost detail. I am very pleasantly surprised; this is the first small pixel (1.1um) sensor that does not mush detail. Well done.
Absolutely horrendous photos. They're so washed out and full of noise that it's embarrassing. The G4 is one of LG's worst flagships to date. Not to mention how terrible the SD 808 is, which cripples the device's performance.

Can't wait for GSMArena to include the G4 in a camera shootout to show its inferiority. If the photos taken by GSMA at the below link are an indicator of it's quality, LG's in trouble.

AnonD-146024, 28 Apr 2015Agree. If real life shots will be somewhat this good, this may very well be the best camera on... moreso you haven't look at the real size photos,
the colors are awesome right but much noise is there too.
Nice colors, decent detailes, but the noise level is too high.
