Last update 5/11/2016 has slowed my s5 down,when will the fix be ready?
I have a Galaxy S5 and after doing the software update about 2 weeks ago my phone has not worked properly. I get an error message about not starting correctly and even having spoken to Verizon support for about a total of 4 hrs. We CAN NOT get it to start up. I called Samsung support last Tues and the tech was useless could offer no assistance Then wanted me to send the phone back. at my expense. It is not quite 2 yrs old and therefor out of warranty. Today when it totally WILL NOT shut down or even after a wipe & reboot will not start up Verizon contacted Samsung to see about my sending the phone back for repair( was told Samsung sends box and shipping label) and they were advised that ONLY phones in warranty are being accepted for repair.prior to your software update it worked fine, How can I attempt to get assistance to get it to work. ERROR MESSAGE I get now & have been getting since the update is START UP FAILED YOUR DEVICE DID NOT START UP SUCCESSFULLY. USE THE VERIZON SOFTWARE REPAIR ASSISTANT ON A COMPUTER TO REPAIR YOUR DEVICE.IN THE UPPER LEFT CORNER IN RED IT SAYS SECURE FAIL: MODEM.Samsung chat support said to try what I advised I already did more than once and then stated: Due to current business conditions, Samsung is temporarily suspending all Out of Warranty repair. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.. So now I have a useless phone and have to buy at an outrageous cost another . Issue is what brand to get.. Really hesitate to get another Samsung product
Since the last update my phones been extremely slow. I've been deleting apps, unnecessary files, everything except a full reset and still it's clunky and irritatingly slow. The screen timeout is set to 15 seconds and yet I'll find it still on two minutes later. The battery is draining in half the time it used to. Trying to do anything on my phone now takes twice as long meaning the screens using even more and if it wasn't for my portable battery pack I would be without a phone half the day while I'm out and about. Sort it out or I'll be switching to Apple.
I've been a big fan of Samsung since the note and have always had them since then however this is totally unacceptable. My contract runs out in a couple of months and if this issue is not sorted FAST I'll be going to another manufacturer for sure.
I updated my samsung A5 and now it bleeps during the night as if it keeps disconnecting from the charger, it looks ugly, some of my apps now take ages to connect to the network and i dont get notified of messages until hours after they are sent. Its awful!
Galaxy S5: I was going coocoo yesterday with this new update but then most of the today was it was ok. Then it started acting up again. I was just about to start uninstalling stuff when I unplugged it! It came back to normal! I plugged it back in again and try to use it... it went bonkers!
Samsung is forcing us not to use our devices whilst it's charging! Apparently!

This has been the worst update year for Samsung. Starting with the 2 stage update in March!
This update is making me go insane. I updated my galaxy s5 a few days ago, and immediately after updating, my phone became about as helpful as a brick. It runs SUPER slow no matter what I am doing. I try texting and it takes 3 minutes to type 1 word. I tried wiping my cache partition, but this had no effect on the overall lag. Please come out with a patch soon or I will probably throw my honorary brick at a wall.
My phone restarted itself yesterday and when it opened it was updating and went to a factory reboot. I lost everything! My apps, photos and contacts. Luckily the cloud saved my photos. I restarted my phone this morning and my contacts came back. I called Verizon yesterday and was told that this was strange because this doesn't happen on the Galaxy. This is the 2nd time this has happened on my Galaxy S5! Each time I was blamed like I had done something. My SD card was wiped as well. This is highly disappointing.
Since the update, my battery depletes within 2 or 3hrs of non-use. Ridiculous! I used to be able to go over night without charging. Also, I cannot text sufficiently. I start a text and the words seem to hiccup and repeat - example "I am I am on my way on my way my way"
Trying to figure out how to uninstall this update!
Since the update it's got the following issues
- running slow
- black screen
- screen flickers on low light setting
- camera takes far to long to take a picture
- battery drains in hours!
What is wrong with this latest update? Couldn't send & receive text anymore! Is there any patch for this? Since the last 3 updates they are getting really bad.

-I'm hop... moreif you have stored pictures to your sd card then that could be retrievable - if you are lucky. cards have this system of storing "raw" data that can still be interpreted by some software if you can get one. try looking thru search engine for "data recovery wizard" or the likes.
to add up to your frustrations, i too have lost so much data due to this update. no suggestion worked for me from all of the blogs and posts about fixing it. factory reset and re-installing stock os never worked. maybe i'll just go to one of the samsung shops and smash my unit with one of theirs. waste of money. such an over-rated brand. was once tagged as the only brand that keeps android alive in competition with iOS, totally not true. for 10 years, i was not impressed by the low quality of their "pre-S" series, i should never have expected any good from what they produced after. crappy.
S5 on T-Mobile here, I had some updates waiting this morning (11/1/16) so I went ahead and accepted them. Unfortunately, the touch screen has now quit working so the phone essentially does nothing, I have tried taking out the battery/SIM/SD card and waiting for a while (several times) as well as did the system cache clear but I am having any luck. Pissed.
The new update is terrible.
My wife updated her s5 and told me about all the problems and I didn't believe.
So after I made the update on my s5 it was just worser.
They should fix it or I will smash my phone to the wall and never buy Samsung again.
I've lost my locking phone phone capability. Also when you touch the screen, it sends out bubbles of color. I also can not connect to thr internet at all using google, I have to find chrome and go in that way. My original Gallaxy S5 had major issues issues after the last update and was replacec with this phone. Very very very frustrating.
Nothing happens when you hook up phone to computer to see your music. Need to sneak in the back door to manage music. I have to "trick" the phone into seeing ALL files by selecting PHOTOS - only then can you see the music file.
Even with that, the music transferred from the last time does not show up on the screen at all, so there is no way of knowing exactly what is there and whats not- need to delete all music every time and start from scratch. - It's ridiculous.
My phone is updated during the night.
It is still trying to open.
Have the two circle cogs going round last few hours.
What do I do now
Well.. i'll updated my s5 today.. it worked fine the 5 first minutes.. but when i open snapchat, the phone got crAzy! The touch react like it is a water drop on the screen.. ITS TOO ANNOYING! I'll have to restart the phone like every 5th minute!! My mom called me 10 minutes ago.. I COULDN'T ANSWER! BECAUSE THE TOUCH REACTED TO THE "WATER DROP!" But it is no water on the screen! The screen is totally pure! PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM! it's TOO ANNOYING!
