Note II user here. Honestly, no big deal. It's a good phone when it came out 3 years ago with Jellybean. Sooner or later every phone will have its final update. For the a Note II, it came much later than other phones... and I'm HAPPY enough about that.
Who needs to keep up with the latest, when your phone does what you want it to do?! On my PC, I've used XP all the way until Microsoft ended support for XP. Served me well even then, and with old hardware! :-)
Focus on the job to be done, not on the tools to do it.

This might just be the blessing in disguise! Using my Note 2 for 2yrs 6mths and still happy. Kitkat is bug free and gives great battery life.
I was sure there was no lollipop coming and my phone had become slowish. So just decided to format the phone in the month of March. And now the phone is so snappy! I love it. Also realised I had too many unused apps slowing my phone which I didn't reinstall.
The phone was quite costly when launched and I fully intend to use it for around 4 years to really make it worth the penny. It's a shame that android phones are not supported by software updates for more than 2 years.
Hope something groundbreaking invention happens in the mobile space by Oct 2016! That's my target purchase date!

Note 2 Firmware Update Log from Samsung
4.1.2 = smooth, nothing wrong
4.2 = let me make your photo album laggy, so you will buy Note 3
4.3 = let's make your battery drain within 6hrs, so you will buy S5
4.4 = decrease the overall performance 50%, so you will buy Note 4
no 5.0 update = sorry, now go buy S6!

I have a Note 2 and I am glad this is not coming to the device. I have lollipop on my Note 4 and it's killed my battery life.

Samsung when will you get it that happy customers will get back to you when they decide to upgrade, and that unhappy customers won't???!!!
The future is providing good customer service, and working with what the public wants. This phone is capable of Lollipop, is a flagship, and you should implement Lollipop!
You are just greedy, thinking of money, not realising that your future will be compromised for that... People are waking up. Start working with and for the people of your downfall will happen.

I own a Note 2 , and it's a great phone...using from more than 2 years , still serving great...and am gonna replace it with Note 5...!
I would rather stay on 4.4.2 KitKat , i don't want 5.0 Lollipop as it's very buggy...!

such a stupid thing to do .. note 2 has enough spec to handle lollipop .. but thanks to the havily skinned touchwiz it will not be released.. i mean like sony xperia e1 still get to kitkat even though that phone is almost the same age as the note 2 .. this is cleary that samsung abandoned old galaxy model which is still capable to get at least kitkat like the quattro .. huh samsung , no good to me dead

Meh, I stopped relying on Samsung for "updates" long ago, it was particularly difficult to get rid of the goddam Kies but I managed to do so, If I want lollipop or whatever comes next I'll keep going to XDA as they blow all manufacturer ROMs out of water, save for Motorola of course :D
