So a Cortex-M4 @ 364MHz is in the X20 SoC?
Stadtionalist, 12 May 2015This SoC, together with all current octa- and hexacore SoCs are crazy. They make me cry. All f... moreI vote for the GPU in Nvidia's Tegra X1, the Maxwell 256 core version. That should do it.
take my money!
John, 12 May 2015Absolutely crazy. Not a single application nowadays uses all 4 cores of a SOC, let alone 10. T... moreThis is obviously a comment by someone that don't understand how big.LITTLE works, and didn't understand how the tricluster works. There isn't a time when more than 4 cores are active at the same time.
What about Heating ??? didn't mention regarding this issue which is very important now a days.!!!
abbyzz, 12 May 2015FYI... Even Apple doesnt manufacture their own chip..Samsung is their brainchild to help them ... moreAtleast some one understands apple aint that great
AnonD-183154, 12 May 2015Only Apple and Intel knows how to design chips that can dynamically alter clock for both power... moreThe way you put it makes it sound like Apple produces microprocessors, something which they obviously don't. Intel knows how to produce processors, Apple doesn't.
Goodbye respectable battery life.
Mediatek is Taiwanese
sigh.. why they dont just create their own smartphone..? e.g. Mediatek Helio X20..,S1..,G1.etc..?they could have ruled out samsung.
AnonD-183154, 12 May 2015Only Apple and Intel knows how to design chips that can dynamically alter clock for both power... moredid apple ever designed a chip? all a chips are from samsung.
FYI... Even Apple doesnt manufacture their own chip..Samsung is their brainchild to help them .. Apart from the IOS they hardly manufacture anything on their own..
John, read the article, can't you?
Mediatek said it won't run 10 cores simultaneously, the two A72 will only run at heavy load.
John, 12 May 2015Absolutely crazy. Not a single application nowadays uses all 4 cores of a SOC, let alone 10. T... moreyou didn't get the point.. in 10 core its clustered as 2 quad core and 1 dual core and these never work simultaneously.. if you are using cpu intensive apps its use the high power dual core processor... if you are using normal apps 1st quad core will work... and if you are just using the phone the low powered quad core will work... and its more battery efficient
John, 12 May 2015Absolutely crazy. Not a single application nowadays uses all 4 cores of a SOC, let alone 10. T... moreDid you even bother to read the article? St
Absolutely crazy. Not a single application nowadays uses all 4 cores of a SOC, let alone 10. This will destroy the battery life. I'd rather see Mediatek create 4 (or maybe 8) very powerful cores than to see this joke
AnonD-183154, 12 May 2015Only Apple and Intel knows how to design chips that can dynamically alter clock for both power... moreYou do know they use ARM based designs?
Only Apple and Intel knows how to design chips that can dynamically alter clock for both power and efficiency.
Mediatek is Taiwanese, not Chinese. Get your facts straight.
This SoC, together with all current octa- and hexacore SoCs are crazy. They make me cry. All for the marketing and unfortunatly customers all buy the BS.
Woopie, tri-cluster... With two identical clusters, apart from the clockspeed and the hi-performance cluster only has two cores. (And an integrated 11th M4 core.)
Go home Huawei, you're drunk.
(What we need is a SoC with a high-performance cluster, e.g. 4x A72 and a high-efficient cluster, e.g. 2x A53, on a 16 or 14nm finfet, HMP enabled (at least on cluster level) and a high-performance GPU (so no adreno 418 BS or a Mali400MP2/MP4).
