Well... Fragmentation is NEVER been an issue for users. But it DID, DOES, and will ALWAYS be an issue for 3rd party developers. Every time the OS introduce a new features we want to use, we are always hard pressed to chose between supporting older release thus we have to maintain different code base (compiled into one bloated app bundle), or cut the case and only support the new OS version and keep the app compact and easily maintainable.

Oh yeah fragmentation is such a big issue on android. Yeah right. Really apart from us tech nerds, no one cares. It's just propaganda by Apple and now MS.
AnonD-283265, 17 May 2015Apple still the WINNER. Microsoft think so long n work so long for this Window 10.....Can Apple make a 50 Euro phone? That's how much they're worth, why don't they?

Good news, must wait for win10 phone.
Apple still the WINNER. Microsoft think so long n work so long for this Window 10.....
bobby21, 17 May 2015Apple is the best. Their update service is just great.say whatever they get the new os out fast unlike some others
My phone is mission critical.
I decide myself how & when I will update my phone firmware. Not Microsoft.
I don't want my phone stopped working on the middle of important moment just because bugs of windows update.

This updates news is good move.
Some phones from carriers have to wait long before the update gets released, while others can have it right away. Especially US carriers are quite slow in releasing updates. So it will be a good thing when Microsoft will control the updates entirely.
Brilliant news
Thank you.
Anonymous, 16 May 2015At least no carriers bloatware :)Well, I don't think Windows had a lot of bloatware in the first place. Carriers don't really bother with this system that much.
At least no carriers bloatware :)
Well this means not delays or problems in updates, this will be a nice touch for Wiindows phone users..
