He operated under a design first philosophy and emphasized designers over engineers in their products, but making something look pretty isn't really what I would consider being innovative.

Now Steve...the guy was just brilliant with all the products he made while at Apple. Nothing today could be as good as what Steve had made back in the day when he was around. If Steve was alive, Apple would be something different from what it is Today so you cannot say Steve was not an Innovator because that would just be plain ignorance within yourself against the guy.

Jobs and Apple might have made their products prettier to gain popularity, but I wouldn't say they are innovators.

I wonder if you even know who Steve Jobs was??
Continuing Jobs' evilness even he's in hell.
JD, 19 May 2015Dont be crazy child! It's not crazy.
This is basic law. It's not illegal to copy designs as long as reasonable consumers can differentiate who made which product.
Besides, if we're talking about the modern smartphone design, you might want to have a look at the Samsung F700.

According to the courts, "overall looks of the iPhone can't be protected."
There you have it. It's not illegal to copy designs so long as reasonable consumers can differentiate between competing products.
This amount will be reduced to $0 in further appeals, meaning Apple will lose every lawsuit with Samsung so far.
Applesexuals am cry. =)
Apple: The MOTHER of copying.
JD, 18 May 2015I think there is little or nothing that will stop Shamesung from blatantly copying others........ moreNot like Apple didn't copy anything.
Brad666, 18 May 2015what particular feature/looks did samsung copy to iphone?everything ..
S6 looks like , well like S5 and not like iPhone 6 .. :P
Both companies spent something like 20 billion dollars on legal crap like this. Much better invested in R&D.
Apple trying to patent pinch to zoom is just laughable, good job Douglas Engelbart didn't patent the mouse.
Samsung though should do more of their own thing, even the s6 box is very apple like. Note I've owned Apple and now samsung s6
Haha just read the lawsuit and cell phones involved with lawsuit!
AnonD-1825, 18 May 2015The list is long http://samsungcopiesapple.tumblr.com this is great site to show it :DAnd add their latest tablet into list too, it's so obvios copy from iPad.
I saw it next to iPad in magazine and they are almost exact same looking, especially now when samsung went to that outdated 4:3 too ;)

Not even about how the devices look.

It's just like in S. Korea where not only is copying accepted, it is encouraged and is looked upon as a sign of respect and admiration. Companies want their products to be copied. In Samsung's eyes (and in their own court system), they did nothing wrong.
I think there is little or nothing that will stop Shamesung from blatantly copying others...... Shame really......
