BVR, 22 May 2015Or heres an idea, why not launch the e9(+), m9+ and J Butterfly into Europe, UK and the US to ... moreyou are so right because THAT is the reason and I mean the only reason I didn't buy the m9. You bring out a much better model of the phone and specifically noted that the U.S...you have no possibility of owning this. They left a bad taste in my mouth with that one. And I swear by HTC. Therefore I still have my M7 and I'm in much need of a replacement but I will not settle crumbs when there's chips your holding! Blown to say the least.
Or heres an idea, why not launch the e9(+), m9+ and J Butterfly into Europe, UK and the US to directly compete with top end offerings from Samsung, Sony and Apple. The M9 is still pretty much last years tech and feels like a lazy move. Cant understand why HTC feels the need to keep these brilliant handsets in the asian market only......missed oppourtunity anyone?
Satz, 21 May 2015sad nexus sales, sad S6 sales.. now one M9 ?
soaring iPhone sales..
Have people given up ... moreNope they didnt, the are buying cheaper chinese flagships more...
Top old manufacturers are asking too much for what they offer, and price to performance ratio is overexagerated as to chinese manufacturers
Good user to user mouth spreads fast, bad mouth spreads faster
Htc just put a new SoC and camera into old casing without any optimization considered, why would people be interested in buying that. Its not even sd810 problem as we ve seen the real sd810 performance and benchmark strength in z4 tab
They didnt innovate a thing, just put new tech in m8....
S6 sales are bad cause they ditched sd card and batterylife, and with most buggy UI and highest price, for...well, sammy just is overselfconfident for its own good, and bad user experience talk spreads fast...
And although iphone selling very good, I believe apple is just overhyping their sales numbers to attract more interest, just like samsung does with s6...

HTC listen no on screen buttons please and also that logo down there please put buttons there.
HTC is crazy releasing this phone.
If simple users can understand this , how can't they get it.
Well I've to say they're overpriced for a midrange device.
the spacious bezzel at the bottom is the main culprit. If they retain the design of One m7 and made the "HTC" logo serves as the home button that would be more appealing.. on screen buttons take a lot of space.
Shacktzel, 21 May 2015The Exynos 7420 might be better than the SD810 in some aspects and doesn't overheats like it, ... moreSasmung is the only company to ever use the uktra high resolutions with Gear VR. Everybody ELSE isn't. Get your information straight for once.
As for evolution vs revolution, that's a fine argument et al but HTC doesn't do that either. They merely release the same phone 3 years in a row, thank god they fixed the camera at least ... but everything else? The same.
Apple 2, much?
Satz, 21 May 2015sad nexus sales, sad S6 sales.. now one M9 ? soaring iPhone sales.. Have people given up ... moreNo just HTC. They're a digrace to android. iphone priced handsets with half the functionality when compared to other android. Yeah, they're the Apple of androids. Good riddance I say.
This is expected. What can you expect from such a "used-to-be-flagship" phone with same screen, same body design, and crappy camera?
M9,M9+, etc. What a joke HTC.
Despite various review sites' effort to talk up HTC, I think the public generally don't like big (those bezels), heavy, clunky designs.
Well deserved. The M9 is an epic fail.

Often imitated but never duplicated!

The poor sales are down to the shockingly bad camera and bad press with the throttling and overheating cpu! The m8 was perfect as is the m9 bar from the poor camera

Have people given up ... moreNo, but a lot of Android users don't switch to a new phone every year (or in Sony's case every 6 months).
There are a lot of people whom bought a cheap Android phone just to call and text. People who are NOT app-junkies and thus don't buy apps and use their phone until it falls apart. So eventually sales will slow down when a market saturates. I just don;t get it. These companies STILL sell millions of devices and YET it is not enough? WTH?!? Perhaps the problem is not with the consumer but with the companies themselves (or the people whom run them). Just like in the movie-industry. Some o/t actors get too much money hence the ticket-prices increase and sales drop as less and less people can afford to go the cinema.
AnonD-85193, 21 May 2015Not surprising considering how crap the Snapdragon 810 is that it's spends 90% of the time at ... moreWell then if they didn't make these goddamn phones so stupidly THIN then perhaps that SoC wouldn't need to throttle so much!
They all have themselves to blame!
raj, 21 May 2015Poor HTC. All because of Qualcomm! Companies shouldn't be too much dependent upon a single com... moreHTC doesn't rely on one component provider. They also used NVidia and NovaThors amongst others and nowadays they also shop at MediaTek (e.g. HTC One E9+ or HTC Desire 616 dual sim).
But they are indeed Qualcom's most loyal customer or so it seems :-)
Anonymous, 21 May 2015What a pity. They could've done much better with M9 if they did a overhaul to its design(even ... moreThen perhaps HTC should start to use their brain and sell for a modest fee a Sense launcher, Sense apps or even a sense ROM for other devices.
I don't think it can't be done to move the Sense UI and associated apps into separate products that can be monetized. That way the revenue from their software assets can pay some o/t loss o/t hardware department.
Are they so dumb at HTC that they didn't figure this out by themselves?
well that had to be expected. They released more powerful devices after this and even though they weren't ment for worldwide release, they disappointed htc fans and certainly M9 owners.
I won't dwell to the device's weak points at all.
When a company always make the same product, people don't see the point in changing their phone...Same is happening to Sony and its Z line. Samsung understood that by launching the S6 Edge which is a big success
Shacktzel, 21 May 2015The Exynos 7420 might be better than the SD810 in some aspects and doesn't overheats like it, ... moreIf you mean this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUw9PUlFUF0
Where the S6 has to reload everything thats due to Samsung having more aggressive memory reallocation, either rooting it or using dev options you can set this so it won't be the case any longer.
Then theres the benchmarks
https://www.yahoo.com/tech/s/lg-g4-vs-galaxy-s6-vs-htc-one-125530855.html
You can see the S6 is a GOOD 30% faster in single and 50% more in multi threaded now these benches have a mix of graphics and processor intensive fact the S6 has a much higher screen resolution compared to the M9 should bring it's score down somewhat.
How whats sad is both processors are based around the Same ARM core except Samsung opted for theirs on 14nm process and has a 5% increase in clock speed major differences being in the graphics chip. Either way they are the same core yet performance is far far more than 5% on the Exynos.
The most intensive game on Android is the recently released Jurassic World the game which uses OpenGL 3.0 so a limited amount of devices can run it let alone play it smoothly and the S6 powers though it, game will kill your battery on either device in under 2hrs and both phones start off smooth but after a few mins the 810 starts to slow down and get incredibly hot clearly throttling big style and although the S6 does get fairly warm it still continued with a smooth experience.
