Adomas, 28 May 2015People will believe everything you throw at them. Remember that you also have to fold motherbo... moreThat's less of a problem, though. You can still go for a two piece motherboard design, connected with those flexible flat film cables (don't know what they're called), and it still works as "one". Having a foldable screen on the other hand implies a continuous display, else it stops being "one" screen and turns into two or more screens.
People will believe everything you throw at them. Remember that you also have to fold motherboard, cpu, gpu, ram etc. This is just the foldable display we're talking.
Daniz1, 28 May 2015Whatever happened to the Samsung Youm project?this is the youm project...
AnonD-164202, 28 May 2015Is this a joke? LG G flex was the first flexible phone, Galaxy round and Edge have curved disp... moresamsung showed off a lot of prototypes that were actually FOLDABLE... I think that Samsung made a right choice when they swapped to (AM)OLED displays. LG is far behind in the OLED technology,with this peoject I'm not sure they'll ever catch up to samsung.

Is this a joke? LG G flex was the first flexible phone, Galaxy round and Edge have curved displays but they are not flexible at all. LG already made huge progress but still you are favoring Shamesung for something that doesn't exist...
LG is considering the same. They said that they want to release their first foldable, lets say "gadget" or phone in 2016, so the competition has already started way way back when the prototypes been made.
Surely Apple invented the foldable screen after all they invented all the elements on the periodic table probably patented them too.
Now, this is what I'm waiting for to become mainstream!
Daniz1, 28 May 2015Whatever happened to the Samsung Youm project?The very first (working concept) YOUM phone was very similar to the Note Edge (edge on the right hand with extra functions and notifications). The flexible display used in YOUM concepts, is used in the Note Edge and S6 Edge. The only difference is that there's a glas layer on top to protect against scratches. The tradeoff is that it can now break. But it shows that the flexible displays are already in use and have a future still.
Whatever happened to the Samsung Youm project?
ArtificiallyYours, 28 May 2015It's about time we've got Flip Phones to hit the Smartphone spectrum in the United States. Wel... moreWith Valley project being developed, we will see many digital devices that are foldable in any way. I think this will come to fruitition in 3 years, and become mainstream in 5 years.
So we do not have to worry about bending our phones. Those digital devices we will use will act like our clothes that could be stuffed in any confined space without worrying damaging them.
And I think in not so distant future we will see many digital devices being fused with shirts we wear...another way for fashion clothese to steal the spotlight.
Lenovo = Laser projector.
LG = Iris recognition.
Samsung = Foldable display.
And the winner is Lenovo. My two cents thought.
It's about time we've got Flip Phones to hit the Smartphone spectrum in the United States. Well needed, ever since the BlackBerry Pearl Flip! Hopefully, coupled with dual battery support, it becomes even more prevalent.
Hopefully this will mean the return of the clamshells...
Well protected closed, large screen when opened.
So in short, another 1 Billion for Apple, for Samsung copying the Bendgate!!!!
After LG now Samsung. Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
