I heard that Samsung sale went down in India few months back due other smaller brand in India like Micromax. After seeing Samsung delay in providing new updates for their devices (especially for the model, one sold high in volume comparison to other models). There is no doubt that Samsung may face further down in their sale in India.
Its better to spent such high amount on nexus devices rather on Samsung devices. Android Lollipop is old eoungh and nexus mobile will come soon with Android M. Might be Google strategy to keep Android vendor behind due to their Nexus but truth is; they are really behind becuase Samsung got Android Lollipop Several months back from Google. With Samsung, in terms of OS, users are a year behind. Users thought that they are buying a latest model in market. While truly latest devices are Nexus / Apple.
Alternatively, better to buy cheap phone like Micromax / panassonic. I can buy two Micromax model with same A5 Configuration in cost of Samsung A5. So rather than keeping a Samsung mobile for two years with delay in OS update. I may like to go for changing mobile once in a year with updated OS. First year, i will keep non branded mobile with one OS, next year, I will buy same or other non branded mobile with update OS. At least, i will enjoy new stuff.
I am sure some people will not agree with my thoughts while some will. Actually, i am a middle class family person and care about my money. And ofcourse fascinated with latest gadgets so writing.

Why you guys are waiting for lollipop update for Samsung A5 ?
Samsung already customized their Kit Kat 4.4.4 version similar to lollipop. So even if you update, you will not find any drastic change except few UI settings options here and their + notification on lock screen. Though there will be change as enhanced performance but that will not be measurable as hardware already has good specs.
Better do not wait, probably it will too late in India and then there will no craze for it.
