And not really. Some benchmarks show adreno doing better and many show Mali. But Mali throttles less even in older chips.

That's half the truth, if you look at the performance, it's depending on the gpu benchmark which chip is performing better, so it is a tie in the overall ranking. But keep in mind, that the Mali GPU has a higher clock speed and more cores than it could have in a 20nm fracturing process. An adreno 430 in 14nm with a higher clock or eventually more cores combined with a stronger CPU would for sure be better than the exynos offering.
So when it comes to the architecture, the adreno is still in the lead but it's not enough to compensate the lack of a 14nm factoring process

            Samsung has been using Snapdragon chipset since S3 , (S3 LTE & Note 2 LTE with Snapdragon S4 chipset) / (S4 with Snapdragon 600 & Note 3 LTE with Snapdragon 800) , S5 with Snapdragon 801 & Note 4 with Snapdragon 805...!
Samsung is using Snapdragon chipset way before Sony , and everybody knows that Samsung sells more Flagships then every manufacturer combined (Apple not included, only Android Flagships)...therefore Samsung was the biggest customer of Qualcomm...but i have to admit that the latest Snapdragon chipsets are crap...nothing comes close to Exynos...!

Note 5 should be able to run programs as smoothly as S6 should Samsung decide to go wih Exynos again.

Galaxy s4/s5/note3/4 based on snapdragon powered sold very2 well compared very small numbers of xperias worlwide

Even sony not listed on top 10 smartphone maker, much smaller than those Lenovo, ZTE,Huawei

Well, Mali GPU is not sophisticated like adreno, but it has flexibility to pair with lots of ARM based processor

But it seems, T8xx will be strongest opponent for adreno on android platform

Adreno suffer instability with recent a53/57 based snapdragon processor

Bright future for ARM mali and samsung

Both S6's and Note 4's GPUs are better on raw performance. If they lose it is because their devices run at higher resolution and/or because of the Qualcomm's optimizations.

ARM can and does create some mighty GPUs, here's hoping that Samsung would pay game companies to optimize their games for Mali too...

Samsung started using snapdragon in their s5 so basicall they used snapdragon for 1 generation only. Sony is the biggest user of qualcomm since 2012. Know your facts. Apparently snapdragon is snappier than mali just look for benchmark. The only issue about snapdragon is the heating well even s6 shows signs of heating wgile playing games.

So production costs are decreasing but gadgets' prices are increasing. So Samsung is following Apple. Sad.
