This is not true. I just logged into my AT&T account and selected an iPhone 6 as an upgrade choice and there is a 2 year commitment option. For the 16GB phone it is $199.99. I think that is way better than paying $21.67 a month for 30 months ($650.10)!
Anonymous, 07 Jun 2015Still a better deal with tmobile, no interest on the installment plan. No hidden chargesTheres no interest on Next Plans either, but hey at least Att doesn't throttle any of their current plans, wink wink tmobile
Looks descent... but 5.5 is a bit large for my taste. 5 inch max.
Lol, now that residents of the US will realize how much Apple phones cost, I expect the market share of Apple to drop like a stone in that market. This also applies to other "flagships" like the Galaxy S6. The Nexus 5 proved it's possible to build a terrific phone in the 300-400 range. So, 700-dollar phones today are a rip-off.
Anonymous, 07 Jun 2015Still a better deal with tmobile, no interest on the installment plan. No hidden chargesAnd crappy T-Mobile spectrum, can you hear me, LOL.

For plans of 10GB and higher your cost of service on NEXT is $25/line less than on a 2yr contract. Add to it a minimum of $200 you have to put down when getting a new phone on contract and NEXT is actually cheaper over 2 years.

there is no interest on the next program, all AT&T phones have sim cardscards andand next devices are locked to AT&T until they are paid off. go to a retail AT&T store and see why next is better for most consumers if you're on a new plan I guarantee Next the better way for you to buy phone.
Smart but different tactic. The fact that it's no longer 2 years to a consumers point of view
No contracts.
Payments towards ownership of the phone in less the 2 years.
Mnstrmike, 06 Jun 2015anyone tried the math yet it doesn't add up! $21.64 x 24 months is only $520. That's a $130 le... moreThat's because a NEXT 24 plan is actually 30 months of payments.
In short, anyone on a NEXT plan is actually paying MORE for their phone than a typical 2-yr contract.

That's stupid
anyone tried the math yet it doesn't add up! $21.64 x 24 months is only $520. That's a $130 less than an unlocked carrier free 16GB, not to mention no tax.
It's not just Apple stores. The 2 year contract format is being replaced by the next program at all third party sellers. The only exception being large warehouse stores with membership fees. Such as Costco. Don't be surprised if contracts are completely done away with in all locations in the future.
Samsung anti Apple ads are finally making some damage land on apple. jk

I doubt that the phone is SIM-free, all of the iPhones sold on AT&T Next program I've seen were all locked to AT&T.
"This means that the AT&T unit is essentially SIM Free, but, as expected, interest does ramp up the overall price."...
Next has no interest. It just breaks down the phones unactivated retail price into interest free installments.
