I too don't understand why Sony are so unwilling to do it. Already rumors leaked that Note 5 will be using type C

This isn't a knock against SONY but isn't it about time they thought outside the box in terms of design? Let's take a note from the Walkman series, each mainline model had a highly useful feature or useful application of whatever feature.

"Apparently, the new connector will not help Sony make thinner and lighter smartphones. Currently, the company is focused on producing thinner camera and display modules in order to achieve the aforementioned goal."

Sony, you don't have to be anorexic like Apple. Nobody's asking you to make your phones thinner. People want better camera and battery.

Honestly, if Type-C is an excuse to make impossibly thin and impossibly short-lived smartphones I might just hold onto MicroUSB 2.0, thank you very much.

Sony is probably my favourite company out of them all, but they are really arrogant.

Way to go...run away from any innovation and keep on making ugly black slab with big bezel. Let the other brands get all the credit for this great new connector which can also transmit HD video to your TV. I really wonder why Sony is going bankrupt...

And I still don't understand how Sony's phones don't came with wireless charge(consider their phones got waterproof, but came with a m-usb charging port. It's just ridiculous). And now, with this new usb type-c charging port is just awesome, and not only Sony doesn't want to be part of game changers and they just want to be a "catch up guy" as always! Typical Sony!

"The Japanese tech giant is considering the connectivity solution, but will wait for it to gain more traction in the industry before committing to it."

Hey Sony, if everyone in the industry has the same attitude as you, it won't gain any traction. In 2016 phones and other electronics have to come with Type-C.
