AnonD-170479, 12 Jun 2015Better move to Windows instead of Android...You'll be having zero security then you know that BBhow is Nokia today?
The problem isn't with BOS 10.x - the problem is with the hardware specs and the form. Chen still thinks hard keys is the way back to profitability and he keeps putting mid-tier specs on the phones.
I'm not talking about RAM, but rather about camera and GPU. BOS doesn't need 4GB RAM or SNAP 8xx processors to run fast, but if Chen is going to charge a premium for new handsets then he bloody well better have premium hardware to go along with it.
Chen did a great job turning around Sybase, but Sybase wasn't a consumer electronics company. In consumer electronics, and especially in the smartphone business, style is as important as functionality to the consumer.
Chen falsely believes there's a big segment of the market who still wants the physical keys. If that were true then why hasn't the passport been an incredible success? Why is it that Samsung phones that had physical keyboards like the Galaxy Glide or the Galaxy Y and M series have been left behind and smartphones without keyboards dominate the market?
Chen better wake up from his dream of a leading a smartphone market that craves physical keyboards before he drives Blackbarry into oblivion.
AnonD-60070, 12 Jun 2015Hi mate, have you ever tried BB OS10 devices before making that statement? if you haven't, t... moreI believe he was referring to the fact that if BB adopts the use of Android, their phones will also need incredibly powerful hardware in order to allow Android to run at least decently. As the user you replied to said, Android will lag even on that powerful hardware. Because it's... well... Android. And it's a fact that Android has poor memory management, therefore it will lag.
Anonymous, 12 Jun 2015and it will be lagHi mate,
have you ever tried BB OS10 devices before making that statement?
if you haven't, then it would be understandable comment.
If you does have tried using it for few days, then you will knows that BB OS10 are buttery smooth, and more lightweight than Android
(example BB z10, only dual core 1.5Ghz clockspeed. but it can do Multitasking better&faster than most high powered Android devices)
P.S: BB OS10 can install Android APK's so you can still play android game/apps on BlackBerry.
AnonD-170479, 12 Jun 2015Better move to Windows instead of Android...You'll be having zero security then you know that BBYes, I agree. Windows would be a much better OS choice rather than Android. BB's phones have to be secure and fast.
Anonymous, 12 Jun 2015good BB .. now u can put 10 core & 10gb ram on ur phone ~and it will be lag
Better move to Windows instead of Android...You'll be having zero security then you know that BB
Please please don't abandon BB 10 OS. Please remain this service and support. I begging you. Love Blackberry 4ever.
Well, I guess it's time to say 'goodbye!' to a secure and productive OS and embrace the vulnerable, the average and the unproductive, spyware OS that is Android. RIP BlackBerry. A sad, sad announcement.
Not a problem; just don't abandon BlackBerry OS. Perhaps we'll see a dual boot phone and get a 2 for 1 device.
Don, 12 Jun 2015I moved from Blackberry to Android only for reason of cost in Australia. What a mistake. Fran... moreSorry to say this but I ain't paying top dollar (even worse 2015 prices) for some outdated specs and that means literally every current Bb right now. Leap? That thing is the worse $275 proposition I've seen yet to date.
Before you think that I'm a spec whore I'm not. Keyword here is BALANCE so for them to still use a friggin' Snapdragon S4 Plus ffs in 2015 no less for both Leap and Classic are a damn sight unforgivable when even 3rd rate MediaTek are now 2 gens more advanced. And these you can even get for $200!
Fair enough to claim that BB OS can deal with said baseline and still deliver but definitely not at $275 that's just epic ridiculous.
BB OS could have been the one to spearhead an enterprise/biz secure aarch64/64 bit move but now it's clear it's all about overcharging on older hardware. BB loyalists should demand better for the money spent.
I would have one if it could provide BlackBerry10 user experience & security, and avoid Google services. Otherwise it will be disaster. Hate android 5 ui, it is totally made for usage of Google services which I don't want
I believe firmly that BlackBerry should make an Android BlackBerry Passport type phone.. Call it the BlackBerry Ultra :)
Or call it something better
I moved from Blackberry to Android only for reason of cost in Australia. What a mistake. Frankly the Blackberry OS is far superior to Android. I just dont know what all the hype is about Android. I can only put is down to it being cheap.
