They still need ois though. And a software revamp, especially for video
Anonymous, 16 Jun 2015More importantly ois. It has 2.6um sized pixels on a1 inch sensor so it does well in low lightYes I agree with that... But Xenon would've been a very big advantage and LED is much weaker compared to it...!!!
Anonymous, 16 Jun 2015I agree for the look...but with this 2 gigs and the 1000$ tag...this should be a joke. You are also paying for the biggest camera sensor in a phone
epos, 16 Jun 2015This is GSMArena, can't blame them for being ignorant in "proper" camera. Panasonic ... moreOK. I can buy a better TV, desktop, and DSLR with a satellite phone. Instead of an android
That's not the point
Just got this phone 2 weeks ago, the camera is absolutly stunning even in low light. I think this is the reason, panasonic use led instead xenon flash.

It's about time! Maybe they even updated it done
I've been dealing with a Nokia 808 preview for years because of its excellent camera. But I would like to get a replacement. I'd totally get this phone but at half the price. Oppo sells a smartphone with comparable specs for 300. $700 premium for a camera upgrade is nuts. And leica doesn't really make the lens, Panasonic just licenses the name and some IP. I'll wait for the inevitable sales.
I don't think the smartphone specs are bad, but considering the lack of a Xenon flash and OIS thi is a no go for me.
This is first of all a CAMERA. The smartphone "bit" is just what runs it so you can't call it "an old flagship" or whatever. The main feature of this device is first and foremost a camera with a 1" sensor. This on it's own is very special, especially in such a tiny body. The rest of the spec sheet is pretty much the same as, say, OnePlus One or a Galaxy S5, so in terms of price tag, it certainly justifies it in my opinion (on the sensor alone!).
Since this is a camera-cenric phone, they should've added a Xenon flash for this price tag... Then it would've been a complete phone...!!!

Panasonic actually market this is camera with phone feature than smartphone. according to report, they will sell this thru photography shop than telco/mobile shop. personally I won't buy this, it try to be the best of both world but turns out to be master of none. for the same price, photographer have better camera; for the smartphone user, well, read the comments.

Hmm, perhaps they are not, if they released it in 2013! But with Snapdragon 801 SoC, just a two gigs of RAM and a 16GB of internal storage probably even using an outdated version of EMMC and possibly not even having 4G/LTE capability in a thousand$ price tag?, if someone who has a clear thinking and that he/she, is more than willing to spend a thousand$ to possibly get the best and the greatest Smartphone of to-date, they should go and grab the 128GB storage of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge!

Ultra FAIL Panasonic. Ultra fail.
The camera may be nice, but you'd be better off buying Asus Zenfone Zoom ZX550 (64GB / modern SoC / 3000 mAh / 4GB RAM) AND have still a couple of hundred bucks for a case, extra battery, memory card, and extras.
Will totally utterly fail in the marker and sell only a few units.
$1000 for camera smartphone having not high specs.
It will be waste of money.
4K is 15 fps did you intentionally forgot to mention that DETAIL?!?!
Panasonic makes good products but their customer support is terrible, try sending a mail to them you will never buy their product.
