Qualcomm need to fast track the 820 or they will lose even more credibility than they have already, assuming they can do it properly of course. I have the Note 3 and am very reluctant to upgrade from the 800, let alone if I had the 801 or 805 in my device, given all the horror stories I am hearing about this chip.
Umbilical Noose, 18 Jun 2015At least in the past SD was a logical choice. This time around there is just no reason to get ... moreOnePlus never will use Exynos for a known reason: sammy never will give it to OnePlus do their devices! OnePlus dont use Intel because development is too low relatively to Qualcomm...
I dont know why OnePlus dont wait for a 820 SoC instead of invest on a high problem processor like 810.
Houston,we have a problem..high end CPUs sucks, latest Android cover is about 12%, too weak battery technology and list goes on and on.. Boring.
hey guys this will be a beast
Why doesn't Oneplus go with Exynos used in the blazing fast Galaxy S6?
That might be costly, but it will be better to underclock that, instead of already disputed 810.
If I remember correctly, one other company has licensed the same chipset from Samsung....
Modest Mind, 18 Jun 2015Actually the idiots are we because we buy Smartphone with very expensive Snapdragon processors...At least in the past SD was a logical choice. This time around there is just no reason to get a handset with SD's top end SoC. If someone can overlook the 'no-development' part then Exynos and Intel are better this year so far.
Cool! i will test it on the M9 and report as soon as i do this test :)
Thanks :D
AnonD-309636, 18 Jun 201560% more than 801..Oops typo :)
@biggest: Intel SoC means lack of development which is the best thing about OnePlus.
Umbilical Noose, 18 Jun 201560% more than 810? I don't know who is the idiot here, Qualcomm or the companies using it.60% more than 801..
It was tested in real life that S801 outperforms under-clocked S810. Need compelling reason to upgrade from OnePlus1 to OnePlus2.
I was waiting to buy some One+ but (1) for sure with S810 firestarter this is out of the question and (2) with higher price tag than the rest budget phones I really dont know if this is the chosen One . Maybe this year is no ONE (M9 sucks with the same S810 hot potato) , and this One + 2 sounds like a failure ... I`m very dissapointed .

If they really have to underclock it to get it to not overheat then indeed, what a mess. They would be better off waiting for the next chip.
They really should have used the sd 808 chipset instead. No issues with overheating at all. We'll see how this pans out.
SD808, SD805. Hello Oneplus, did you even weigh the options you're having ?
What a mess
if it is underclocked then sd801 is faster so what is the points and hypes about this failed sn810. Why not use intel? its powerful, 64bit, cheaper, cooler, and pair it with 4gb of ram then you got a winner.
"which is 200 MHz or 10% less than the CPU can handle"
Apparently, it can't. Else it wouldn't heat up that much. To the "it does not"-fanatics: try the following: get yourself a 10-bit h264 1080p encode with a high bitrate and let mxplayer software decode it. I tested it with an Xperia Z1C back then and its SoC heated up like crazy after about 10 minutes.
Really not surpraizing
