Not surprised at all, why buy watch which doesn't do more than just show time when smartwatch can do so much more and getting new use all the time.

There should be a third category for wearables without screens such as the miband which can basically tell you next to nothing by glancing at it. It's basically a Nike+ sensor strapped to your wrist. Genius! (Not)

So the near future sounds pretty well for me and for others that need/use this kind of things

But I specified that at this moment the smartwatch is nothing too necessary. If the future will bring innovation to these small devices, making them unique or just as useful as a smartphone, even I would be interested in buying one. But for now, nothing is new in the wearable segment. Smartwatches from today are not very different from the first ones we've seen a few years ago. If smartwatches weren't very impressive at the time of their launch, why would they suddenly be seen as such right now if nothing really serious has changed.

Orch, 22 Jun 2015Like i say a normal watch that can live for decades doesn't do anything but that. It's a watch. It does what it does best: It shows time. For everything else I would rather use a smartphone than to struggle with a smartwatch. You cannot expect a BMX bike to match the speed of a car do you?

Anonymous, 22 Jun 2015An essential key in evolution of smartphones and smartwatches is longer lasting battery life. ... moreIn phones it can be easily solved by the two battery system. One backup sealed on the phone, one main removable, one charging and one with you. That way you're literally never without battery. Because even when your phone is charging you still use it. Even when you're changing the battery it works through it's backup, etc...

Some Chinese companies dabble in that. But in the case of wearables nothing of shorts can save you. Maybe Nyack and white amoleds? I dunno...

Orch, 22 Jun 2015Last longer BUT do nothing elseAn essential key in evolution of smartphones and smartwatches is longer lasting battery life. So far both of these devices have a problem at this part.
You can accept to recharge your smartphone daily because it is essential in the everyday life. But the smartwatch only proves to be a pain in the ass since it does not offer the same functions and it is kinda impossible to demand such a thing due to its small size. It's more a gimmick than a necessity to own a smartwatch. Money thrown on the window.

This sounds ridiculous. People who have already seen the irrelevance of these wearable devices at this moment will most likely still not be interested in buying such a device. Let's be frank about this subject: Wearable devices are not a must-have right now since they cannot pretty much anything than displaying notifications or sending commands to our smartphones from a near distance. They are still not ground breaking enough to gather international attention from customers. Their battery sucks major time as well. People can still use their smartphones to do anything they need so a smartwatch proves to be pretty useless. Wanna see the time? You can simply buy a attractive looking watch that can also last way longer.
