i am using canvas a1 android one phone . the lollipop update is good. android one is affordable nexus. moto g3 is launching but benchmark is not so good for that price 23000 only. even my android one benchmark is 19600 Android 5.1.1..

Usually when someone manufactures a phone, they make some changes in OS (customization) so that you cannot do any modifications without their permission. And also if they have any buttons, code to calibrate them differs from manufacturer to manufacturer. Thus ROM meant for one manufacturer wont work on other.
Technical assumption:
On the other hand, "Android One" branding comes with some regularity. Manufacturer cannot do any inky-ponky on it. So their H/W button mapping has to be same as specified by google. So if you have seen previous generation phones, they are all manufactured by various manufacturers, but if you see inside, there is not difference in them. You can actually take one ROM and use on any.
Now, user point of view:
1. Android one phones have Untouched version of android OS, no customization; even better than Android Play edition in terms of performance.
2. Android One phones get any and every updates released in two year.

Consider it like the Nexus line but in the low to mid range with a great price for what you get, you get a smartphone with decent spec's and a fair price along with stock Android and guaranteed updates by Google.
