Tap five times continuously Internal Memory and then tap on phone information 1 and change my network selection to WCDMA instead of GSM.
This will change from 2g to 3g

Rohit, 23 Jul 2015Whenever I am trying to connect to 3g network mobile connection automatically switches to 2g. first remove both sim from both the slot then insert one of your 3g sim to slot 1 then go to settings option of your phone there is option called prefered network then you have select there 3g remember in this whole process do not insert sim on slot 2 after doing this 3g is enable in your redmi 1s. for all who's update to V6 without clean / wipe will be facing signal issues.
the only way to solve that problem is wipe all your phone before installing new ROM.
MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY MORE THAN 80%
Download ROM V6 offline, save it into your sd card.
Then WIPE DATA, CACHE ALL.
Copy ROM V6 into internal memory after you wipe all your phone.( save it in "downladed rom" folder.
After that, you can install update from update menu, choose 'select update package' , select ROM that youve allready download.
Wait the update process, sometimes it will be little bit long at 98/99%, just wait untill 100% and your phone reboot.
Voilla, all done. You will be able to choose your network in 2G, 3G preferred or 3G only.
