The reason people using Android because OEMs are pushing it everywhere. Android allows OEMs to put bunch of crap on it. It's not as good as Windows Phone or iOS when it comes to stability, security, and smoothness. Google gave up Android OS to OEMs to gain marketshare so they can sell ads. Microsoft and Apple are not in business to sell ads. They don't want to hand over the OS to the OEMs so they can mess it up. Microsoft restricts the crap that OEMs want to add to an OS but that leads to low marketshare because OEMs will push Android instead.

I have lumia 1020. The 41MP camera is stunning and ahead of its time.

However, the only way to catch up is to release phones with far better specs and prices

Sadly for the lumia line, development takes like a long time. Probably by the time an upgrade to the 1020 is released the competition wouldve already cached up

For me, Windows has one chance and 1 chance only for success in the mobile phone world. They need to market a phone with a full blown browser just like theyve done with the Surface
This would be the ONLY argument for me to consider a MS Windows phone. I have no clue as to why they did not do it already

                                  1. Battery saver in windows phone is the worst ever. you get only 3 options off/when battery reaches 20%/always. if its in "always" mode then whatsapp like apps donot update automatically. while you have absolute control on android, have that "stamina mode in xperia" just love it. and rooting gives you ultimate control just install any "firewall" which will restrict apps to access internet.

                                  2. Talking about reboots/restarts ? lol its the windows phones job every time you update even if its 1mb file!

                                  3. Premium feel. ? with what making tiles transparent from wp8 to wp8.1?

there are many things dear. what you do in 3 steps can be achieved in 1 step on android.

Anonymous, 11 Jul 2015Android users are jealous of Windows phone? JOKE OF 2015Well, simply put, Android only wins in the number of apps in their Playstore and the ability to use customizable launchers. (which btw just drain the battery faster or they lack features or are just buggy when in heavy usage)

What the Android OS lacks is:
                                        - a lot of QA testing to ensure everything works as intended (this would also allow devices to run lag-free when a lot of apps are installed)
                                        - a modern interface (static icons and widgets are so 2007 - Windows Vista style)
                                        - security
                                        - stability after a couple months of usage when a lot of apps are installed (no app crashes, no lag)
                                        - a proper battery saver
                                        - an automated way of deleting all files and folders related to uninstalled apps
                                        - a way of allowing the OS to run without the need of reboots/resets
                                        - a premium feel

So unless someone absolutely NEEDS to have a customized interface on their mobile OS, then they have some options out there that are much better than Android.
