AnonD-375713, 11 Jul 2015wow you clearly never worked with a PC to say "smartphones are the new PC" hehe ye... moreYou missed the part P stands for in PC. Personal.
Most people don't write documents on their sparetime, anymore.
The personal use today, is facebook, blogs, youtube and such, and for that kind of stuff, a tablet will easily do, and you could even get used to the very small screen on your mobile to do it, if you want to feel truly mobile.

The "PC" business isn't completely dying, cause there will still be gamers and bedroom producers, that need a computer for personal use.

The computer in a workspace, will probably live on. But do notice, that with a keyboard dock to a tablet, you can have a much more mobile system, that dependent on what work you do, might very well replace a computer.

Sean, 11 Jul 2015Wrong. It's because the new PC is the smart phone. Especially when a smart phone can replace... moreBecause the majority of the world has now become dumb and are only playing stupid candy crush type games! Good luck in doing some proper work on your tiny smartphone!

hehe yeeee go type a document on a touch keyboard, this will be so funny! Also go on, model some 3D stuff, I do mean properly, engineer level (no that's too much, just make a sphere), on a phone. OK a tablet, go. I dare you to make it both fast enough and properly.

Seriously this "smartphones and tablets will kill PC" story is probably just as old as smartphones themselves. I do mean the Communicator series and up. And heck these had a proper keyboard.

Can replace a PC as a facebook machine, e-mail reader (not for writing at all), or occasional web browsing OK. But seriously. This "PCs will die" came like, when laptops started to popularize. Guess what? Both coexisted.

Out of the people I know only those who are gamers are still using desktops, most use laptops and few get by just with a smartphone using pc only in rare situations.

It's because PCs are now powerful and can last for many years. I switched to my current PC, when the old was 7 years old. I wasn't able to do there anything, everything lagged as hell and requirements for software just grew. My current PC i have for... 7 years. And everything works still pretty good! Apart from new games, but I am not a type of gamer, so it doesn't matter. Not looking forward to change my PC.

That's probably because of Windows 10
