Mashy, 04 Dec 2009hey mate, the one your saying looks good only paper, I believe your definitely talking about N... moreLG Prada had capacitive screen, was introduced and released before iPhone, sorry, iPhone really wasnt the first to do anything but perhaps that multitouch, which requiers both hands, not a great idea in a mobile phone...
Anonymous, 04 Dec 2009Everybody knows capacitive is better.
And no matter how you put it, everybody DID copy Appl... morecapacative screens are not better. they support multi-touch, but on the other hand does not work with stylus, nails, gloves, and so on.
responsivness used to be better, but then Samsung proved that wrong.
Anonymous, 04 Dec 2009Everybody knows capacitive is better.
And no matter how you put it, everybody DID copy Appl... moreThe design of the iPhone is typical for a touchscreen-phone Qtek S100 shares similarities and it came long before.
So thats what the Apple guys copied.
The UI, well icons have been used on phones for a very long time.
Apple copied the market.
HTC and Motorola supplied USB-chargers long before apple... Besides the iPhone hasnt even got an USB-port, just an USB-compatible port.
Nokia sold applications directly to the phone long before iPhone came around. Sure, not as sucessfully, but still it was all long before the iPhone.
Gestures was introduced by Neonode, long before iPhone.
Accelerometer as I recall first came along with Nokia 5500.
Apple didnt do anything new with the iPhone.
They made a good touch-centric phone (neonode, LG and HTC did that before Apple).
But iPhone is no original.
Star dome, 04 Dec 2009Nokis 8800 arte just OLED guys, not AMOLED..
samsung the first mobile phone company who apply ... moreOLED is the name of the technology itself, it can be used in 2 ways:
AMOLED & PMOLED. All OLED screens used now in mobile phones are AMOLED, so 8800, N85 etc.. all have AMOLED :)
i guess i must wait till this thing come out on 2010.... so i can dump my phone

Fantastic news, cant wait for it to happen
Anonymous, 04 Dec 2009ok so mr developer, give me something out of your opinion, with you being an expert, I assume.... moreNeither is "better", depends on what you need it for. 7 is a worthwhile upgrade, especially for going 64 bit, which is almost needed now for video and image editing or 3d rendering, you need 4gb of ram for it to run smoothly though.
7 is brilliant, it's taken alot from OS X in terms of ease of use, like the OS X dock style taskbar and the system navigation.
I've got a copy of XP that I have slimmed down to 150MB, I've installed it a few old laptops that originally had NT4 and it runs extremely well.
From a developers point if view, it makes no difference it's only a little bit of extra code for an application to modify its behaviour in each, mainly for uac, which if it works on vista, 99% sure it'll work on 7.
Deep space bar, 04 Dec 2009The beta wasn't even out for a year nub....i know your lying hard and badlyLying? Why woul I lye? Lol, you're such a childish dweeb.
I said *almost a year. I've got the image file right here, created 15th of January 2009.
You're really getting on my nerves, just stop posting, you bring nothing useful here.
Anonymous, 04 Dec 2009Well I wasn't specifcally talking about the N97, but rather the whole smartphone industry befo... moreYes, I always buy Nokia phones. Never gave me problems and I feel at home on Symbian (I'm going Maemo I think).
However, you're right. Hardware manufacturers (Nokia et al) just cared about what they do most: spec sheet. It took a software (and hw, o'course) company, Apple, with high stakes, to shake things up. It was the smooth user experience that Apple brought to the table. Now I don't know or care if things go smoothly on the iphone. It's the idea that counts here.
That's a good thing. I hope Maemo goes mature faster because of all this. And let's not forget Google, too.
what? maemo 6 is oficcial? and the maemo5 in nokia isn´t out yet.
I think that my n900 will stay in the shop.
I realy hope that this new improved nokias symbia, will be good.
i hawe had meny N symbian craps....that i truly think twice to buy one.
Mashy, 04 Dec 2009hey mate, the one your saying looks good only paper, I believe your definitely talking about N... moreWell I wasn't specifcally talking about the N97, but rather the whole smartphone industry before the iphone. All phonemakers was so focused on megapixels and frames per second and memory capacity, but they put OS stability and UI at the bottom of their list. That's why users, even though were impressed by specs and fearures, were frustrated with the phones' performance. But then it's been like that for many years that users just learned to accept whatever is out their. Until the iphone came out. That's when everyone realized how important user experience is. The iphone was not the first to utilize touch technology and other tehnology that it offers, but it's the first one that was able to integrate all those technologies very effectively and made those features work so smoothly and intuitively. It knows and responds exactly the way you want it to. That is the innovation that the iphone brought out to the table and that the rest are now catching up on. Nokia has realized that, which would explain their agressive actions and drastic moves on adopting a new OS and platform, but of course nokia fans will deny what Apple has triggered and contributed to the smart phone industry. If anything, every nokia, lg, samsung, etc fan should be thankful for the iphone. Because it is the iphone that pushed the rest to become better devices.
Star dome, 04 Dec 2009Nokis 8800 arte just OLED guys, not AMOLED.. samsung the first mobile phone company who apply ... moreNokia is the first phone company to use amoled screen that is Nokia N85. And amoled and oled screen are the same.

Nokis 8800 arte just OLED guys, not AMOLED..

I think nokia will be copied all sammy features..
nokia+samsung=super phone :)
Anonymous, 04 Dec 2009"Win7 on uses a few of the kernels from vista but 95% of the OS has been rewritten trust me us... moreok so mr developer, give me something out of your opinion, with you being an expert, I assume. You think xp is better or worse than 7?
Yeah, all this thanks to Qt 4.6!
Nokia has been belittled and insulted and what not because their smartphones have inferior UI.
But now things have changed, with Qt ported to the Symbian platform the competition will be left behind. Nokia would be writing Qt-based killer apps while the rest will be scratching their heads on how to improve their toolkit.
