The reason maybe as same as why ios users jailbreaked their device. They want more.. We want more than what our device can do. It's like have a skyline GT-R, it's great car but some other point you want it more powerful/different, so you do the custom job.

Strip android down and lock everything down to do as little as IOS and the superior hardware of most android phones will blow iphones out of the water.

Yes when i check my ram usage that is what face book is using for ram. Storage is another story.

Another important reason for a removable battery: the charging port on my S3 came loose, so I couldn't charge in-phone. I bought a second battery and a battery charger and am able to continue using my phone without paying to have the port repaired.

Windows XP didnt needed 4GB of ram yet was much much more complexed than the latest Android!!!!

It needs a removable battery because when you work all day long on your phablet, you need two batteries.
Same goes for travelling and other uses that are supposed to be where a phablet is good at. It is supposed to be able to replace a small laptop, thus the need for being able to use two batteries or more on the same day. It mays have never happened to you, but sometimes you cannot carry a battery charger with you or have the time to plug your phone.
