saw89, 14 Jul 2015a lot more "sad" than fun...Yeah, but I just can't help but giggle to the title "Nokia is looking for a partner to help it enter the smartphone business". The same business it once not just dominated, but more or less created

That said, Nokia Sony partnership sounds interesting, but I am not sure how would it work. I think much better would be Nokia Google partnership - Nokia Nexus. Nexus phones have great software, but shitty hardware. Nokia would make the killer hardware, and with stock Android, that would be the best phone out there

To be honest, I think Nokia has historically always had the best hardware available. However, they have also historically furnished the worst OS, as well as perpetuating "memory issues." If Nokia could get their heads out of their asses, and keep up with the modern game, I guarantee I will skip this piece of shit Sony on the lake. Couple a cutting edge camera (another Nokia strength) with ample memory, ample expandability, a 5" full HD screen, 3-4gb memory, waterproof and durable, with good battery life (swappable battery) and you can bet your ass I am back!

According to this Nokia will provide design and technology (plus ofcourse brand appeal), while any prospective partner will provide manufacturing, sales, marketing, and customer support for the device.

But smart phone design and technology is no longer an elusive art (numerous companies of all shapes and repute are at it big time).

So who needs to partner Nokia in this way ?

As it stands now, the only potential LONG TERM partners are local unknowns (internationally unknown that is) exclusively catering for their local markets at present. There are many such companies in India for example, but similar ones exist in other countries like Russia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico, etc.

If this is so, then why did it exit the smartphone business at all in the first place? Its like this - An army commander says lets surrender to our foes and now that they are nowhere, the commander then says - Let's attack again!! Does Nokia understand the damage they have done to themselves and the employees? Can it be reversed? Can all those 10-12 years of leadership position be brought back? NO. Silly people, silly decisions - both ways!!

More choices always better.. However chances of survival is low.

Better change name to aikon... and challenge nikon in the camera war..
