Visva, 18 Jul 2015In my 1520, I updated and 4G is displaying in Highest connection speed under mobile+ SIM. Will... moreThe 1520 sold in India is RM-937_im_india_235 (Manufacturer Name), the Global Version. It supports 4G/LTE Bands-1(2100), 3(1800), 8(900) & 20(800). So no 4G/LTE Band 40(2300), means this cannot work with most of Airtel 4G networks and also upcoming RJio's network. But Chennai/TN folks might be lucky as I read somewhere Airtel's 4G/LTE is offered on Band 3(1800).
Similarly 1320 offered in India is RM-994(Global Version) with 4G/LTE Bands-3(1800), 7(2600) & 20(800).
I feel Microsoft simply unlocked the 4G/LTE feature by this update, which was locked earlier.
In case of 640XLDual Sim(RM-1067), it is being sold that after this update, it will be 4G/LTE enabled(equivalent to 640 XL LTE Dual SIM RM-1096).
Now this is confusing is LTE purely software driven or hardware/software driven. Any comments on this please.
Its not microsofts problem if the indian carriers only support 2300mhz for LTE.
I've Seen it. I have L 1320 and got that 4G option. Apart from that nothing seems to be changed except some bug squashing firmware about restarting issues found on some lumias.
How does this help?
Lumia 1020 doesn't support 2300 MHz, which is the channel 4G works on in India.
