AnonD-392500, 20 Jul 2015Very true lolExactly I've a Note 4 pens their simple advantage and selling point.
also put a retractable scribe within the pen.
With a better screen-to-body ratio than these two, Beidou-powered locator on top of GPS and GLONASS, a proximity sensor, a bigger battery than the 8.0 variant, bigger screen resolution AND pixel density, plus a nifty infrared sensor, I think I'll stick to my Tab S 8.4 LTE a little while longer, thanks!
Really FM Radio, did you just wake up from the 70's.
No flash???? Duh
It's a shame such a tablet has no FM RADIO built-in.
Now we are obligated to Internet anywhere we are.
Without SPen its not so great. Old tab was better with battery size. Without any updates with touch wiz it will not out perform.
will definitely buy it, if it have s-pen. sadly, not. samsung, where's note 8 refresh with 4:3 ratio and metal bezel like this?

No point in keep upgrading the specs and hardware if it keep getting worst. Better with downgrade and optimize the software with hardware. It will perform better that way. That is something Samsung learnt from observing Apple.

The cores is one grade higher then your s1 tab. Basically everything is better off.
The reduction from 8.4 to 8.0 and the 10 to 9.7 means a smaller footprint.
And there is still the slot you like so much.
Just because it try to adopt iPad formfactor you do not need to be so rejecting.
Samsung S2 9,7 or SONY Z4? I'm afraid of battery life...
When can I look forward to the first results of the tests?
I have the now old Tab S 8.4 and I find these new products puzzling. The screens are smaller (area wise), have lower resolution and ppi. The cores have the same speeds and the same RAM available in the SoC. The SD slot and camera LED are deprecated. Batteries are smaller. Only the video recording and fingerprint sensor seem to move ahead.
I am not sure why is Google (and Samsung) pushing the 4:3 aspect-ratio for panels. For sure is not better for video consumption. It may be better for productivity, but with no palm rejection nor support for active pens, I feel the productivity point is moot. I can't say any tablet is good for reading. Neither OLED nor LCD feel right for the task.
I believe the bottom line of this is the new aspect ratio and dimensions benefits both the yield of the screen business and provide additional freedom for component distribution, which help make for cheaper and slimmer tabs.
Wow not much of an upgrade from last year :/
vrvly, 20 Jul 20154k tablet still nowhere and ppi is going down, did they lose it?You care about the numbers only? The higher the better? Probably not only thing you should care about.
... I was expecting the Exynos 7420,4gbRam and a larger battery...
I still want 16:10 for an 8" tablet, better for book reading imo.
3gb ram on my nexus 6 is not enough and they are giving this giant with so much touchwiz bloats inside only 3gb ram. this is insane
Why is samsung releasing downgraded products this year? After the S6 (and the useless edge of the S6 as opposed to the great note edge), now this inferior product? Samsung always released products that are superior than the previous version year after year, 2015 Samsung is horrible. Let's hope they don't downgrade the Note 5
i agree. Need to massively improve resolution. My old generation tab S has better resolution and i find it just adequate with pixels clearly visible when i hold it close. The they downsized the battery as well by 20%. Next Stone tablet in line Sammy??
Finally a great 4:3 tablet. Anyone using the Ipad Air knows how much better it is for a ~10 inch tablet.
