Can you tell me a mobile OS other than Symbian OS which runs smoothly on less processor speed and less memory? My 5530 has got only 128 mb memory and 434 MHz processor speed.I am a hardcore user and I charge it once in 3-4 days.
It's not the problem with the Symbian OS,its the problem with the S60 UI which Nokia is working on.

Android will be outdated by then? And by the way, aren't we supposed to count the advances in Android itself?!? The _current_ version _may_ ne outdated, and even so you don't know what kind of crap Symbian will bring.

To the Maemo guy below: ok, it's the future. When the future comes, I will buy it, LOL! But not now when it lacks so much....

SE has a BAD tendency and reputation of ALWAYS delivery goods that are (slightly) outdated while charging a premium for their handsets while their competitors costs less with "current" technology!!"

It's not only them. It's fast becoming a circus;look at Samsung's Moment and Behold 2,how Moto Droid played their cards right to push out with 2.0 from the get go and why HTC's winning fans with their Sense UI even if they had to out with 1.5 or 1.6.

There are pros and cons to this matter underscored by some difficult factors.1) Carrier locked business model [like the norm in NA market]. 2) Phone makers' OWN UI recipes

Anonymous, 19 Dec 2009Because Symbian code is make from zero , different with android based on linux.Android is mainly JAVA based, well the part where programs run is, developers have very little access to the underlying Linux based core OS.

It's good that Google and Apple are pushing the development of open standard HTML5, the sooner Adobe Flash is gone, the better.

RIM advertised a position for someone with experience in developing mobile web browsers based on WebKit so we may see Blackberry joining the push for html5.
