Voted for Not for Note 5.
Reasons:
- No IR blaster (Really Samsung? You are now encouraging me to find the darn remote of my TV?)
- No replaceable battery (no big deal for me, but hard to adjust when I already have a phone with one)
- Smaller battery capacity than predecessor? I will still wait for endurance rating but that doesn't make sense.
- And last but not the least, same screen size and S6 Edge Plus and Note 5 both now have same screen size. Weird!
I am going to pass with Note 5. Nothing comes anywhere close to work as an alternative though, but this is what happens when you set your standard way high with the kinds like Note 3 and Note 4.
Either follow the competition, or stick with your own good reasons, the latter will work much better if you are confident.
My s6 starts lag after last update. not as smooth as sisters j5. no more samsung again.
The Note5 carries the burden of bearing the Note name, hence it's like carrying the highest expectations of the whole technology enthusiasts world. It will never be treated as just another product to be bought, although it is. Because the Note series have always been the game changers, they have always been the phones that bring dramatic improvements in every criteria of the smartphone. They have been the king kings of versatility, functionality and performance. That is until, the Galaxy Note5, that has managed to not only limit its user in memory and power capacity, but has also removed the infra red remote control feature and has somewhat managed to underperform its small brother, the S6. So, is it hot? Of course not. Because its not even worthy to be called a Note successor. And it actually will be the most massive flop in Samsung modern history. Guaranteed.

There is no more gimmicky feature like large capacity removable battery or micross slot or IR blaster that not many people use anymore. Samsung has matured from a childish gimmicky sales company to a company that produce normal smartphone. Plus, I don't see any gimmick or teasing of Apple product anymore in their Note 5 ads. This is better.
As much of a small upgrade it is, the Note 5 is still one of the best phablets (if not the best) on the market. So what's with all the hate? They changed the design to something new (which everyone complained about) which had to remove the expandable storage and removable batteries. So stop complaining about it, you got what you asked for.
I think Sammy like to make the same mistake twice, third is a charm. They did not learn from the first one. If customer need Iphone look alike they would buy Iphones.
What made Samsung popular is being different and having features in there phones, by stripping the Micro SD and removable battery they are going to loose.
I'll just gonna buy LG G4 Pro or Moto X pure.

AnonD-270570, 16 Aug 2015The one who is criticizing these two phones is definitely a low end user who still buy phone b... moreIt's all about personal preference. This is why people complain, because new Samsung phones does not fit into their preferences. I complain too, I'm a Note 3 user and soon my phone will be a 2 year old device and I was planning to switch to Note 5. But now I simply can't, because for me the new Note is ugly (S6 too), has a smaller battery and I will have to pay a lot more to be able to store my files. That's not acceptable for me. Note 4 seems to be a better option overall, even if it doesn't have the newest chipset or more RAM.
Meh @ both, I'm waiting for the #NextLumia
I question what direction Samsung has done. I used to be a really loyalist with their first 4 Notes, but NotePOINTfive (because it's only half functioning compared to any of the other Notes) is less in substance.
They took out the changeable battery that gives options and heavy users like me can manage with just spare batteries rather than having to worry about power. Fast charging or even wireless charging are consolations - they will ruin the sealed battery even faster from all the heat they produce. Don't expect this to have efficient charge after 6 months if used heavily.
And the problem really starts after you've reached 300 or so cycles of charging, and you're not getting the battery longevity you got as you used to during the first few months. With the old Galaxy Notes, there's a reason why a spare battery will come in as a relief, with even the fact you can actually prevent the problem of shorter charge hold a while longer.
If its just looks... but what about hi-res audio rec, better cam than s6, memory,battery... Sammy ingeneers got deaf and blind, look around u what r u doing....
The one who is criticizing these two phones is definitely a low end user who still buy phone by the capacity of expandable storage and never really been into high end phones. If people spend that much money for micro SD card then iphones would never be successful. No doubt these two phones are the most powerful and beautiful phones in the world. I'll tell them on behalf of rich people, we don't choose phone by fanboyism or expandable storage, we choose what's best either it's from Apple, Samsung or any brand and looks, gimmicks, show off features does matter when one spends that much money for a status symbol..this year Samsung bought the best combination of all these features and with the unique '' edge'' over others so we will buy it, if we'll feel iphone is better package next year we'll go for it as well, no company is paying you or any of us... And it's not about preference even. It's about what's best and right now these two phones are the best phones in the world, no other phone in the market comes even close. Galaxy edge+ is my next phone without any doubt.
both the phones are hot s6 edge+ being the hottest..but no IR remote control feature ..i mean what is reason for removing it samsung?
Well, for me, now it is not a good time to release a phone. Because I think before downgrading from usb-3 (note3) to usb-2 (note-4 and 5), they should consider the upcoming usb-c. It is.more powerful, but it just needs a research on it. Even though oneplus two has incorporated it, it is not useful, and in quick charge phones (my n-9005 with regular charger) it takes 1.5hrs for full charge, but in oneplus two it takes 3hrs. Which can be upgraded easily, since usb-c can even charge a big computer with no problem and fastly. So I think they should focus more on upgrading the software towards new changes, since I think next year this time we would also have bunch of usb-c computers available.
Also about resolution. I think 1080p is the highest resolution a phone with 5.7" screen should have. Consideri g the fact that, as the resolution increases, the media played/viewed on a screen gets distorted (for example in 720p phone, 480p movie can be watched without pixelation, but when same wideo is watched on same diagonal screen but with quadhd resolution it gets pixelated), it requires higher bitrate media to be put into phone, which results either in increased data cost (if watched in internet) or increased space usage (if downloaded to phone), which is also bad since storage is not expandable. So I think they should do what oneplus two did, and get back to 1080p asap.
But in overall, even though microSD is removed, I know from S6 that they have increased the response rate of internal memory which is better for me.
Also, they have stabilized the firmware, so that it sucks less juice from battery than before, thus decrease in battery capacity is applicable. And I think the camera effusing out is good for people using phone protector covers. Lastly, I think I would say it is not hot, so I will wait for next update with an improved usb connectivity; battery, glass cover and no microSD is fine by me :)
Rubbish no more Samsung in my life
IMO, note 5 is hot, but for a person who doesn't have lots of spare money, the main attraction of note 5, is the not 4's price drop
btw, i was hoping for a note edge successor, not s6 edge +
No matter what kind of degration, comsumer will still buy the phones so shut up haters. We gonna see a huge huge sales coming up despite the degration
Samsung is gonna make a big hit now with their new scheme. Non replacable battery,no micro sd,3000mah battery, internal upgrades pay, same quad hd screen. I will be the first to buy n samsung we gonna make a huge sales, profit n comsumer will buy. Congratulation samsung. Ignore those stupid comment
Samsung have clearly not learned a thing here with the Note 5 and 6 Edge plus..
The missing sd slot and removable battery, the price, the failings of the last qtr and sales decline. then they make more of the same again..These two new additions are no help to them and then constricting the Note 5 to certain regions...The Note 5 would sell well but no they wont sell in EU this year what are they playing at apart from being the same oul samsung...
