AnonD-13684, 17 Aug 2015But I think this will be still a good upgrade for Note 3 users. My Note 3 with 128GB micro SD card, 32GB internal storage, USB 3.0 and AryaMod 7.2 ROM with power saving dark screen modified Apps is all better than the Note 5.
It takes 18 months for hackers to complete the work on software that Samsung should have done. The hardware of Note 5 is backwards from Note 3 and software will be way behind.
Note 3 is an upgrade from a Note 5. Only the Note 4 can maybe compete with the amazing Note 3.
i was quite sure why they wont mention note 4 anywhere with note 5 even on any benchmark tests as note 5 loses to note 4 in many terms.Samsung is playing it smart not mentioning hugely massively popular note 4 anywhere with flop note 5 and also postponed 5.1.1 updates of note 4 so that they can sell note 5 a bit in name of android. For every samsung past phones there is huge price drop after net flagship release but there isnt any in note 4 after launch of note 5 so that people buy note 5.Note 4 is still selling at same 41900.But whatever samsung may do people are aware of fact that note 4 is better than note 5 by huge margins.Stupid samsung and their cheap marketing strategy.
All in all great. However some upgrades over the S6 would have been nice.
Same SoC, cameras, and all around chips?
I mean they could have at least used the MP10 version of the Mali or something. The Note has always been at least a little more powerful.
And they had an 8MP Isocell sensor with the new color filter and improved signal to noise ratio in mass production at least a couple months ago.
At least maybe a slight lens bump.
And yes the body looks great and 7.6mm being 0.9mm thinner is great. And boasting better battery life with more powerful hardware on a smaller battery is a nice claim. But if it had been 7.9mm and at least the same size battery that would have been much better. And left more room for improvement next year.
Also how is that the Note 4 has a 1 watt speaker and is rated between 82-85DB, but when the S6 came with a 1.2 watt speaker it was more like 78-80?
Anyway the bump to 1.2 watt in Note 5 seems promising. If only they would go stereo.
Back in 2009 with the Omnia HD Samsung basically had the best stereo phone speakers.
In fact the Z3 and M8 barely seemed a couple notches better 5 years later.
For all those complaining about battery life. If you check out the battery life thread over at Android Central you will see that all that efficiency talk Samsung claimed with the new Amoleds, Exynos, and DDR 4 as well as combined radio chips finally took effect.
The battery life so far in early testing shows to be very promising.
Which only further reiterates what I have been asking for months. What happened with the S6??? It's practically the same hardware and software in a smaller screen.
Maybe an improved modem in the Note?

Anonymous, 16 Aug 2015128gb option is available now and for your information LG G4 also have 3000mah battery.I think we shouldn't compare LG G series with a Note! Note was always a 'out of league' series. With Note 5 they made it 'just another' enlarged S6! Thats what bothers me most...

Why do you think Samsung introduced fast charging? Scientist said slow charging degrade battery faster. Thus, the idea is to use fast charging which can prolong battery life up to 10 years.

Why are you not comparing it with Note 4 exynos? Samsung's big competition?
(Note 4 exynos is only 10% slower but sports bigger removable battery, micro SD, screen of equal quality...)
If there was a slight chance to buy this phone, these nenchmars took it away. This is a good upgrade from anything before Note 4.
S6 had better overall benchmarks.
Samsung thinks itself Apple where they throw few upgrades and people buy them like crazy. Well we arent and we wont waste our money.
They stiil ct y score enough on the screen test as ots always lower frame rate.
Lets wait for Note 6. Hopefully they will loose money on this phone to give us a real deal
I was really disappointed after the unpacked event last week. But actually after i gave it a thought and despite all the downgrades Samsung did with Note5. It is still a very high end and nice looking device full of many features other phones do not have. Yes, for us the Note users and Samsung fans, we would appreciate keeping some of the things that we believed it was differentiate Samsung from other phone makers (SD, Removable Batt, IR baster,..etc).
But lets be frank here, Samsung was always blamed to have cheap plastic materials within their flagships, now they shifted to more expensive and fancy looking ones, So I we i want to Comment on some points:
1- Removable Battery: let see how it will result in endurance test, and see if Samsung did some software adjustments to save power. However, i never used a flagship device (Samsung, HTC, even Apple..etc) and it did not require charging the end of every single day, all of them were managed to give full day of usage.
2- SD Card Slot: i hope this feature can be returned in future, but again, with the cloud services available now, this will not be an issue at all, the 32GB should be more than enough for internal storage, and for extra files that i want to keep, simply i use could service. it is very convenient now.
3- IR port: this one i really do not understand why they removed it, it is a simple feature that do not affect the design concept at all (nor the price i believe), so this was really stupid decision. It might be a small thing but it was always available with samsung flagships and Notes, but now not any more with Notes!!!!? why Samsung????
All those who is praising Note 5 as good stategy move are sounds to be one of the employee working solely for Samsung marketing. We have already fed up with Note 4 battery and wanted something more for full utilization of all the features of note 4 or 5. But its a big disappointment and Samsung is also forwarding in the line of Nokia. lets boycott this product.
I am very pleased with Note5. Better than previous version. Samsung really good at making a big fuss about their phone. Those downgrade successfully attract the whole world attention to Note5. It a marketing strategy it is working just too well. Channeling consumers anger to create a free publicity. Smartsung way to go.
But I think this will be still a good upgrade for Note 3 users.
I currently use s6 and I'm expecting galaxy note 5 to be much higher than regular galaxy by 20-30% because of the RAM and obviously, because it's a Galaxy Note series. But I'm disappointed.

Wow. This thing will indeed be the most massive flop in Samsung's modern history. Two step back in design, a step back in feature, a step back in functionality, and now a step back in performance. But of course, a step up in pricing and marketing. Hey, it's like Apple now. But without the brand fanaticism. Wow. And I used to be one of the most loyal Note fans.
A fiasco for those who expected a difference between S6 and Galaxy Note 5, same processor, same camera, smaller battery and less nits, go for the new iPhone 6S? or wait for the new Note 6? , Sammy you did?
