Tinu, 18 Aug 2015Gorilla glass will only protect your phone from scratches not from breaking when the phone is ... moreCorrect, glass breaks when dropped on concrete or any hard surface, it's the law of physics. Gorilla glass is scratch resistant, not scratch proof.

Who cares if samsung copy apple?people still buy overpriced apple products even though they knew its so fragile.not worth the money but still, its the same thing so samsung thinks people buy apples iphone with no memocard slot overpriced with just 16gb and no removable battery. They just did the same thing cause people will still gonna buy it anyway.

i once had my Xperia Z (2013) without it's silicon cover, and unfortunately it felt a couple of times on asphalt, and concrete (it was a busy day & i was being careless) but nothing happened to it, no crack and nothing, considering the glass design. so there's glass design and then there's Note 5

Samsung are becoming so obsessed with copying Apple it's like no one at Samsung have the ability for common sense anymore, because the glass back was alright on the iPhone 4 since it was only a tiny little toy of a phone and small areas of glass are tougher to break than the huge amounts of glass on the Note 5 so obviously it's going to shatter very easily.

Had a Nokia 920 with its polycarbonate body. Dropped it several times, one time on a metal scaffold plank from 2,5 m., other times on concrete, tiles and other floors. Fell mostly on the sides first. Result: only two minor dents, almost unnoticeable. Other manufacturers should read user reviews more attentively and make the housing of their expensive products more resistant to the hazards of daily use. Nokia and Blackberry have shown it can be done while still looking neat. Now just do it. My apology to the accessory business.

Gorilla glass is not to blame here. There are tons of videos demonstrating how hard it is to brake gorila glass with presure and hits. The problem is that if you twist it it shatters no matter what, so it needs a strong frame... So yes, Samsung failed with their designs, but let's tell the truth here. The bigger the displays get, the harder it gets to make the glass durable enough. Theres just too much glass area supported only on the edgess by the frame.
