Anonymous, 23 Aug 2015The fall of Samsung.Samsung was already dying with the S5. But if I had to pinpoint an actual place in time it'd be during the S3 generation when they choose to go plastic over metal.

Nokya, 21 Aug 2015Samsung smartphones remind me of Nokia: a road paved with large warnings and direction signs, ... moreCome on man, when samsung started with android smartphones they had no clue what they will get. They were copying every inch of apple and even in stores was sold as an apple cheaper version with more futures and capabilities (being an android). They got to the cash caw and now are selling devices as expensive as an crapple. Let's make it straight, they never tough about customers to much. Customers were coming unexpected by the herds... and whatever samdung gave them, they bought;). Don't compare a low self esteem company with Nokia. Nokia was forced to die, ridiculed (by the more reach companies that could not stand a chance in front of it's hardware and popularity in a fair fight) and backstab. Look more, think better, see wiser ;)

Unfortunately this is the direction we seem to be heading.

Ads seem to be the next new thing.

Google has been focused on ads for years.
(actually the main reason they designed a mobile OS to begin with, but they tracked you with google searches even before).

Facebook is tracking you, as well.

Windows 10 has several of built in functions to track your behaviour so MS can sell more directed ads.

There is a big risk everyone will be doing this next, including google themselves. And Apple. And MS.

And today, there seems to be no way to pay your way around ads. You can pay premium for apps, to disable ads, but you will still be using an OS designed to track you, to get the best targeted ads as soon as you surf. And probably soon in every notification center around.

In this case, the plan will probably backfire on Samsung.
There is no point in pushing ads for new samsung phones to samsung users. They either own lower end devices, and will not be lost to Apple anyhow. Or they own higher end devices, and think this type of behaviour is out of line, and thus might choose to go for an Apple device next.
If they want to win over users, they need to spread their message to users that are not already using Samsung devices, preferebly Apple users.

I have the S6 edge and did not receive anything like this...until now. Perhaps only pushing the ads in specific countries? (from Romania).
