If they recorded 1080p with the same bitrate, there would not be much difference in captured amount of details, so we aren't really getting 4K anyhow.
When we all sit in front of 4K screens, well, then perhaps. But I guess for some time even after that, the upscalingprocess (built in to a TV or the GPU of your computer) that would be fed with a "high bitrate" 1080p signal would give us as good result as mobiles that then record 4K at too low of a bitrate will us.

I wish other companies could innovate as much as Apple.
With stats like this it will obviously blow all other phones out of the water.
Well at least low end phones. Mid range and proper flagships will have nothing to fear.

Kin... moreMegapixel aren't important, there are good cameras with a low pixel count and good with many megapixels and so there are bad ones. The iphoen 6s 8mp cam blows the Sony 21mp cam away but its worse than the LG g4s 16mp. The oneplus2 prooved in a blind test, that it's better or on pair with the iphon 6s camera with 13mp, the HTC one m9 does worse with 20mp and the m8 does worse with 4.
There are a huge variety of different sensors available to the manufacturers form Sony, from omnivision, from Toshiba, from Samsung and some more smaller brands so it would be easy just to grab one of them and put it into the new iPhone. But its not that easy because apple wants their own sensor that fits exactly their needs in size, in functions, even in pixel data size and so apple used custom sensors. Not an apple sensor but they tell the manufacturers, likely it will be Sony again, what specs this sensor should have and Sony will make this chip justlike apple wants it to be because that means a lot of revenue. Samsung did something similar with their galaxy s6, seems to be that the img 240 is kinda Samsung exclusive with its own 1,2um pixel area technology.
The LG g4 uses a standard Sony unit that everyone can just order and proved that this does not automatically has to be worse even with a slight decrease in pixel area size the 234 can give as good results as the 240 in the galaxy s6. The zte numbia z9 also uses the 234 but the results are not as impressive as the LGs. So its not only about the megapixels and its not only about the sensor, the camera is only as good as its weakest part and the iPhone 6 was one of the few phones were the megapixel count was the weakest part..

yaya, jajajaja...iphone 4k? NO! not this year...maybe in 2050 they will have 4k...today with that dual core and 1GB of RAM never be capable to record that videos...or maybe be interpolated videos! if they are, then i belive...

AnonD-19153, 28 Aug 2015I just hope that they'll stick to the current screen resolutionThe iPhone 6 could at least get full HD, in direct comparison it lacks sharpness. OK, the resolution is not bad and its Sharp enough but when I pay 800 euros for a phone I want the pest screen, not any midrange unit. Period.
And concerning battery life, the iPhone 6 doesn't have a very good battery life despite its resolution so there should not be such a big connection

I don't see the point of 4K when the bitrate is far too low, it's better to have a higher bitrate 1080p and upscale. Most of these phones record 4K at sub 50mbps and 1080p at like 27mbps... that is terrible!
Save your gimmicks and give me higher bitrates.

Apple should have used the 12mp cam in the iPhone 6 already, the iPhone 5, the 5s, maybe even the 4s were the besteht camera for the time the phone was the Apple flagship. With the iPhone 6 and its ancient Sony sensor things changed, now the LG g4, galaxz note 4 and 5 and galaxy s6 are better in almost all scenarios, so just better. Especially in low light where the iPhone claimed to have an advantage with its 1,5um pixels. It's not always about size ;D even cheap phones like the oneplus2 can rival the iPhone camera and win a blind test by a big margin, the nexus 6 with its cheap Sony imx 214 sensor, the xiaomi mi4, all those can make better pictures in some conditions so the iPhone camera went from top to higher midrange.
It's time to change thias, we'll see if apple can get a decent camera in the 6s to get back the crown
