AnonD-3680, 02 Sep 20154 inches is probably too small, :( imo they should have opted for at least 4.3 - 4.6 inches ... moreIt's 4.6" not 4". It's a mistake by the author.
Sid, 02 Sep 2015The display resolutions of the phones are idiotic.
Z5 Premium is a complete overkill with 4K... more5000mAH 6000mAH??! Are you mad?
Those are tablet class battery sizes. Else you are basically carrying a giant bomb!.
There is NO way in life that is going to exist in that formfactor.. Unless new battery tech..
AnonD-436089, 02 Sep 2015Finally an actual compact flagship!! Personal speaking, I find 4' a little bit small. Then aga... moreZ5 Compact and Z3 Compact have 4.6" displays, while Z1 Compact had 4.3".
To all the kids whining about the SD810.... Sony already fixed the heating issue on the Z3+ and the device is smooth as butter. If Sony says 4K is possible with a 2 days battery then it's possible. It's Sony after all. Make - Believe :)
If you do the math, a 4K display DOES NOT use more than 5% battery than a 1080p display. This is because a backlight uses 95% of the power in an LCD screen and the pixel polarizers which filter the light only use 5% of the power. Now multiply that by 4 times. That's hardly a 10-15% more power usage. Look at this, the Adreno 230 GPU to the Adreno 330 GPU was a 120% increase in GPU power and power efficiency. This means a 720p display on an Adreno 230 uses more power than a 1080p dispaly on an Adreno 330. Now a 1440p display on an Adreno 430 GPU uses less power than a 1080p display on Adreno 330. With the Adreno 430, it will use the same amount of power to render 4K as it would take for an Adreno 330 to render 1080p. That's why 4K WILL NOT use more than 10-15% more power.
Again, 4K is useful for Virtual Reality and it said nowhere that the Premium will run at a 4K native resolution. It might be that it will only run at 4K when needed.
And btw... the S6 generates more heat than the z3+ go check some videos on youtube with CPU-Z.
Enough prejudgment. Wait for a review and then we talk.
praying for SD 820
AnonD-436089, 02 Sep 2015Finally an actual compact flagship!! Personal speaking, I find 4' a little bit small. Then aga... moreFinally? What do you mean? Did you hear if the Xperia Z1 Compact, released in 2013, and that was the first miniature android flagship (4.3" screen). It's specs apart from display was the same as its bigger brother Z1.
Finally an actual compact flagship!! Personal speaking, I find 4' a little bit small. Then again, there is a wide audience that really miss updated compact phones with good specs and that don't agreed with the current trend about such as big phones. Well done, Sony!
I am looking forward to Xperia Z5 Compact, I wonder how long the battery life for this sucker...
A slight improvement in the looks and specs department will hopefully get Sony back on track.
These devices look nice.
Hope the bezels are reduced as much as possible.
Kudos Sony :)
WOW, Sony in news again.... much more comments again... 22 comments in 1 hour .....
It is either Sony brand is attracting people to comment, or it teases people by its weird marketing and pricing ....
I wish this attraction could be translated to real popularity and sale figures ...
It might just be late for them to switch/change SoC at this point in time by these leaked photos having the trio au naturel and all ready. I'll bet on zero-SD820 or any other capable chip on these trio
The display resolutions of the phones are idiotic.
Z5 Premium is a complete overkill with 4K resolution whereas the other two are underwhelming.
The compact should have had a 1080p panel with 4.6-4.8 screen and the Z5 should have 2K resolution.
Also, unless the Z5 Premium has a 5000-6000mAh battery, I doubt it would last 2 days.
I think I'll still stick with my Z1. They need to ditch this omnibalance design and do something new, I'm also not impressed specs wise. The Trend continues, other phone companies will release devices with SD820 early 2016 or by summer 2016 then Sony always follows by releasing in the fall. Always a step behind imo. Have lots of Sony electronics but their phones aren't interesting to me anymore. Good news for VAIO lovers, vaio laptops are coming to the US this fall :)
4 inches is probably too small, :( imo they should have opted for at least 4.3 - 4.6 inches
s810 is fine as long as it performs well...
I hope they kept the metal trim around the Z5/Z5 Premium as the gave it a much more premium feel. I don't really mind them changing the glass back though
4k display is going to SUCK battery like crazy
Could the '4 inch' be a typo every other romour pointed toward a 4.6/4.7 inch display
4k display for phone its unbelievable!
akvasu, 02 Sep 2015With all the heating issues how could Sony have selected 810 again !!! Sony just release 810.. so that its fanboys can brag.
Then quietly clock-down, so not to overheat. And have bad lag.
Oh Wow... So they make a tiny 4" model and an overaized 5.2" model?! Are all the companies led by total id1ots nowadays? Don't people understand that 4.7 and around it is the Golden Middle for one hand use of phone?! Everything that is bigger then 5" is a phablet, didn't idiota learn it from successful Nexus 5 that is still holding the price high where it's sold?! Everything that is above 5" is a forkin PHABLET...
As for this particular Sony models... My friend owns an Xperia Z1 Compact with 20 mp camera... And in my country it costed almost double as my Nexus 5... And from photo comparisons, my - not so amazig Nexus 5 Camera - made photos WAAAY better then this 20 MP Sony! Especially with HDR+! Besides there was a problem with the speaker in that model, which had some bad connection and sometimes go mute, so he had to knock it on the bottom to make it work again....
Long story's Short, I reaaaallly don't understand why people piss their panta for the Soby phones... They are overpriced and the Camera proved to be, that it's Sony 20 MP is crap....
