Great article. For those who live outside US like me, you can access Netflix, Hulu and similar media stations on your Apple TV by using UnoTelly or similar tools.
Anonymous, 07 Sep 2015Agreed Pippin was not good, but still doesn't make your statement Apple wasn't into games true... moreAccept what? I said apple never cared, not they never tried, go back and read.
Also while going back, read the article links I posted - Apple specifically states "games are not serious media, they are for little kids" (summarized)
Playing Candy Crush and the likes of other mobile games such as castle clash does NOT make you a gamer - or the device a gaming target. That's like calling me a Captain for paddling in a canoe.
Anonymous, 08 Sep 2015hello apple haters article clearly states " Apple could target casual gamers "... moreActually 'casual gamers' is a term not a word. What do you class as casual gaming? An hour a day on Angry Birds or an hour on FPS or RPG of some kind? These are two completely different realms of casual gaming. Specificity is key so don't jump the gun before Apple can clearly define who they are targetting which is, usually, less advised people who are willing to throw money at a company who haven't been on top of anything since the iPhone 4. I will admit their Towers were sweet even if they did look like little office bins.
Anonymous, 08 Sep 2015agree with you. Apple is so big and they have the best people and engineers. At what cost though? Plus more games would have to be made for their OS. Why bother when an existing platform exists and the money you'd spend on a top spec gaming rig would probably (knowing Apple definitely) be far less... More money for games and peripherals.
Apple? Gaming? LOL!

Anonymous, 08 Sep 2015hello apple haters article clearly states " Apple could target casual gamers "... moreAre you sure about that? well i dont think apple can move mountains like sony and ms xbox. We're talking about devs working on these games...
Anonymous, 07 Sep 2015Eh, Mac's have never had the Gaming thing fully down until relatively recently (and I say that... moreCorrect, but this was merely to reply to the first poster against the assertion that Apple isn't into games. To me, they have made enough attempts proving that they are interested.
If the statement was Apple is not good at games, then yes, that can subjectively be agreed to.
hello apple haters
article clearly states
" Apple could target casual gamers "
key word is casual gamers, if apple decided to go into console gaming, they can do it, and destroy micrsoft and sony. No question about it.
the next apple tv is just a new release, with the added feature of a controller for casual gaming. Their are tons of great side scrolling games, on the IOS Right now, and having the controller will be wonderful. at 150 dollars, its 40 dollars more then the 1st generation when that came out. Of course right now the apple tv is 70 dollars.
Now if we can run emulator on this new apple tv..
Original Apple TV run OS X, which is great, with lots of emulator available.
Later apple tv downgraded to run iOS, which requires jailbreak and other limitation.

Are you really that slow ? these policies apply to ALL apps NOT just games!
oh I'm the one that's horribly wrong ?..got it..lol
Anonymous, 07 Sep 2015The Pippin also happen to be awarded the in the top 25 worst tech Products of all time in 2006... moreAgreed Pippin was not good, but still doesn't make your statement Apple wasn't into games true does it? Accept losing with grace.
Like the Mac, games are not the priority for games like alienware is for example BUT you can casual play games. Like the Mac also this new Apple TV will support games through apple store, so like iphones/ipad you can play games now on your tv etc, but like the mac the apple tv is not priority number 1 or 2.. to play hardcore games like you do on your PS or xbox
Anonymous, 07 Sep 2015Eh, Mac's have never had the Gaming thing fully down until relatively recently (and I say that... moreWell, 1995, wasn't really that early for cd based consoles. Even the original playstation was released then
Note that the pc engine super cd rom (first console to use cd rom as media from 1989)was quite successful as a cd rom add on and integrated cd and card based system in Japan, even this older generation was better than Apple/bandai pippin
Anonymous, 07 Sep 2015Lol at your ignorance. Apple actually released a console before called the Pippin
https://e... moreEh, Mac's have never had the Gaming thing fully down until relatively recently (and I say that as someone who owns and occasionally games on an iMac), but the Apple II was certainly a games machines of it's day, holding a similar part of the market to the ZX Spectrum or Amstrad CPC in the UK.
The Pippin was an odd device, though, since it came at that early period of CD consoles that were all a bit unsure what to do with the technology, and produced failures for all who gave it a go (Phillips, Commodore and Pioneer all had similar CD-based devices at the same time and all have become little more than footnotes in history since the PlayStation managed to get it right in the eyes of consumers).
I love games. I have an Asus RoG JY, XBone and PS3, but I hate touchscreen/mobile gaming. Neither my tablets nor phones have any games on them.
I think this might appeal to mothers, daughters and other very casual players, like the ones who send game requests on Facebook.

https://e... moreThe Pippin also happen to be awarded the in the top 25 worst tech Products of all time in 2006. Also the games for it were just as good as the console (trust me, I've actually played a few, "mediocre" would be a very exaggerated compliment).
As for announcements, nobody cares. He could've announced Zelda for all I care, look at how many masterpieces are on other platforms, announcing a game or having 2-3 good games on a system doesn't make it a good system, it just shows poor choice from devs if they opt for exclusivity.
