Presumably they are after the wii market, casual players who like the flavour of month gaming, even though they failed with pippin, they could be successful (potentially up to millions of units even surpassing Nintendo wii u within 12 months) because they are apple and are a fashion orientated but technology backed company

Note that xbox 1 or ps4 won't touch this type of non tactile control of gaming

Also, Bungie, publisher for Halo actually started out by producing Marathon and Myth, two award winning games which were on Mac. Halo was actually announced by Steve Jobs at Macworld Expo to be a game for Mac and Windows, but Microsoft then bought them and it became an XBox exclusive.

So, yup Apple has been into games for a while.
