one is to run a 4k video or game or etc and OTHER is... moreWhare are you talking about?
4K video, should run smoothly on this device. If it supports 4k 60fps, I dont know, but little hardware today supports that.
Graphical intense games, not at 60fps, probably not even 30fps, but not everyone plays games on their mobiles. Some people rather have a good display for what they use their devices for, than have a device that is optimized for gaming, when they wont play on it.
The GPU has 4K support, so I dont see what the problem is.
I see pixel-noise on my 5.2" 1080p mobile on normal viewing distance. I cant see pixels themselves or jagged edges on letters or anything, so the resolution is actually sufficient. And I've seen pixel noise on the LG G4 in stores, too my surprice, I thought that it would have high enough resolution.
Will I see that on this one. I dont know. But clearly 1080p isnt enough, neither is QHD.
I can see pixel-noise on my 32" 720p TV as well.
I havent looked that much on 4K TV, so I can say if I can see on them as well. I also mostly looked at 55" 4K TVs, and that is perhaps standard today, but expect us to have even bigger TVs in the near future.
I've seen a Sony 4K projector, project 1080p material on to a 100" screen, and I can say that upscaling works pretty well.
So if there is still pixel noise on large 4K TVs, 8K TVs that does upscaling, could remove that noise, without really having to having to have source material with native resolution of 4K, just to get rid of pixel noise.

Sony is using Adreno 430, the first GPU to ever support 4K. Again go educate yourself and read on Qualcomm website about the SD810.
But then, you know better than Sony engineers lol... And it's not my manners, it's just that I lose respect for people who come and throw crap and lie, who argue with not a single proof yet it;s all over the internet that the device doesn;t overheat not lag with 4K playback.
Next time you want to comment on something, do some search before coming up with nonsense.
I'm interested to see this display in real life.
It has smaller black lines between the rows of pixels, than a 1080p, that is great new, I was afraid the distance would be the same.
That pixel arrangement, does make me wonder, if it's primarily designed to improve picture quality of 1080p material.
From a normal viewing distance I can't see the pixels on my z3, I can't see pixels or jagged edges, so the PPI is sufficient. But I do see noise, due to supixels. In stores, I've seen that on LG G4, so I know QHD wasn't enough to overcome that issue.
I do think that if the resolution has too much of an impact on batterylife, the resolution should perhaps be held back.
But I see no reason, why a 4K mobile should not be introduced. And I dont think it will have that much of an impact, in this case.
Gaming performance would suffer, much if it runs 4K natively, but at least some if it uses 1080p resolution and then uses some of the GPU to upscale. But not everyone is a gamer.

so stop writing so much for an apple fan or whatever call me because time will give me the truth..because 4k on a standard hardware is very risky
i mean sony don't use his own cpu and gpu to be specifically made for 4k display
Its too complex to explain to somebody who has bad manners and use words like fanboy, pathetic etc to someone who don't know personal. this is a virtual world and you are suck into in and you started to speak like it.
If Sony use 4k for his 5-6" devices i expect them to soon release 8k mainstream TV Sony Bravia, and be useless for the next 5-6 years untill strong content will be available in 8k

As for the 4K you either not reading or don't want to believe. You come up with a crap story about you playing 4K videos on Premium which is a lie.
You then start arguing about 5K and compare the Premium to your Retina.
I give you facts and ask you to make some search that neither the battery life is affected that much nor the device heats up.
I then come and ask you to check more about how 4K videos are played smoothly on Z5P but you keep going back to square one.
One thing that show that you're ignorant, I don't have to learn IT ( Information technology ) because that has nothing to do with mobile phones and hardware etc... In fact Im an engineer if that makes you relieve...
Seriously that last thing I need is to convince a member of Apple review team ( which I doubt anyway ) but I hope you really are as you're too stubborn and living in denial.
Imagine Sony releasing a 4K screen phone that's unable to play 4K videos... Apple ? maybe but certainly not Sony.
I'm out of this, you're a hopeless case but one advice, keep watching reviews, I so enjoy day after day seeing this device excelling in everything.
Bye
We will see when buyers will have it, what kind of problems and lag and heat will experience.
1 man person testing some basics in some selected places is not even close when millions will use it in any climate.
I am very curious if your precious Sony can handle a game or app that is made in 4k resolution.

Comparing the Mac 5K retina to a mobile phone is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Google DPI and go find the different between each device DPI and come back to me I can keep making a fool of you for the rest of the night.
When you learn the difference between DPi and PPi then we talk and then you'll realize how a 4K mobile phone can run a 4K video smoothly. The xperia is not running at 300DPi you know... lol...
Until then, we talk.

At least I can assure you that Sony has very good reputation for giving smoother experience on every devices.

Dearest friends.I think has done its best to offer a premium qualities on this phone and has succeeded amazingly for the first time in smartphones history!!!Not only this one is the highest midrange but also other 5 Sony,s productions are flagship according to their qualities!!Undoubtedly and unbiasedly fairly speaking, the year 2015_ 2016 is the Sony,s year and its superiority over all brands!!!Market and smart genius people prove the rights!!Also gsmArena,s highly expertly scientific written reviews proves rights, wrongs, advantages and disadvantages of not only this one but also other newly made products too that we must wait!O.K.What does pixel density prove anyway!!!?Thanks all of you, gsmArena,Sony, and Google plus to add to our knowledge!!

The backlight of the screen uses 90% of the power and the backlight in a 1080p screen is the same backlight as a 4K screen so the difference in power consumption is negligeable. The GPU on the other hand will take a bigger load but the Adreno 430 is made to run 4K and also the supersized battery will balance that out...
And no it doesn't need more backlight power. The backlight can be the same but the polarizer crystals are smaller. That doesn't mean there is a change of the wavelength of photons emitted from the backlight. Also the new display is using a new CBrite amorphous silicon semiconductor tech.
Compare a 720p TFT LCD running on an Adreno 220 to a 4K IPS LCD on an Adreno 430. The 720p TFT LCD on the 220 will use more power.
I'm done with ignorant people trying to bullshit people with false accusation. If you think Sony is dumb to release a device that won't last a day on a full charge, you're totally mistaken.
screw my opinion about the pixel count, it doesn't matter now, I'll not buy it anyway.
What really does bother me, is the insane proportion between subpixel and black area. You get like what, 50% black?? Considering polarization's 50% light output + 33.333% per sub color wasted (if they are 1/3 of the pixel total area, that does mean that you are wasting potentially white light into red, green and blue filtering), this isn't looking good power efficiency wise....
I really do hope some Quantum Dot power miracle happens here cause otherwise this will be so G3...

800ppi draw battery and needs strong gpu for nothing for daily use
4K Is Cool, But Do You Need It on Your Phone? The answer is no! it would probably cut down on battery life big time, considering all the power needed to keep that massive amount of pixels lit up. But as a VR user its a relief you can usually see a much larger grid. 4K on phones would be potentially useful, and that's for virtual reality!
4K display is a beast i love ittttt...
